How will I ever convert her...

Ok I'm talking to my girl on Yahoo! Messenger and she is doing all these weird smilies that I can't see and tells me I really need to get the newest version and I tell her I have the newest one I can get. So she's mad I can't see her things and tells me that Macs suck because they cant even do that, plus I can't see what color her font is in or her background. Argh! She says Apple sucks and all this junk and that Compaqs rule. How is one ever going to make her see the light if she thinks that Macs cant even see font colors? It's trivial to me that I can't see them considering the newest Mac version works fine and everything.

    Compaqs Rule? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

    What's she smoking?

BTW, Yahoo Messenger is a POS. Get her to use something else.

    Get a new girl.

Yeah, I know with the Compaq thing. She thinks those Presario's actually look good!

Actually I know Yahoo! Messenger is a POS 99% of the time we talk on AIM.

And no, I'm not getting a new girl. I don't care if she won't use Macs.

who cares what platform she uses?

    it's a computer.

real life interaction shouldnt be dependant upon platform choice.

using a mac is not a lifestyle choice. the computer is the tool. if you fail to realize this, it's you that is the tool.

This may sound harsh, but I'm going to be blunt. Who cares if you can't see the 342 smilies that Yahoo offers; she shouldn't. If she really is your girl (making you her boy), then this should be irrelevant.

Approaching this by attempting to "convert" her to whatever standards you have isn't exactly the best method. Computers are mostly chosen by taste -- Macs just aren't her flavor at the moment. Again, who cares? There's no use in getting anxious about something this petty.

If there's really a need to display the emotions that smilies and fonts/colors offer (if any for the latter), then either go see each other face to face or compromise on a communcation protocol that actually meets both your needs. Welcome to relationships

Just get her to go to a place with Macs. Last night I was at the mall with my girlfriend so of course I had to go into the Apple Store. First she was making fun of me because all of the employees were saying hi to me since a lot of them know me because I'm in there so much. My girlfriend's always saying how Macs suck and stuff like that. So I'm looking around the store and she goes on AOL on a TiBook and then on a G4 tower and she's talking to people and everything. Now I don't know what else she did because when we got back to my house when she was making a playlist in iTunes she said to me that she's really starting to like Macs and she's getting used to them. She also wished the iPod wasn't only for Macs.

LOL Jesus christ, some of you take things way out of context. Both of us don't care and she can use and have whatever she wants! I just said that in my post above. I wasn't even being that serious......I guess that's the problem with the internet. It was more of a joke on how she thought they sucked because they couldnt display the 342 emoticons. We don't care. Life goes on. Of course I realize it doesn't matter and a computer is merely a tool. Seriously.

P.S. It's a little hard to communicate face to face right now. She lives in NC.

Welcome to relationships? I think I already know a little bit about them.

I hate chat programs. I'm not that fond of emoticons either.

How do you keep a relationship EmAn? All you say is "Yes", "I agree", or "That sounds good". Maybe that's a good thing.

Good question. I must be doing something right. We've been together for 18 months and now it's a long distance relashionship (well about 40 min away) since she lives in Queens and I moved in June.
