That appears to be interesting, why waste the performance power battery life when the OS and Apps can not support it.
Most of Android apps run in a virtual machine (Dalvik, likely to be replaced by ART in the next months), so once virtual machine supports 64-bit, all those apps automatically benefit from 64-bit, without need to recompile. Only native apps (those developed with NDK for a specific CPU) need to be recompiled in order to benefit from 64-bit.
Are they admitting that all 16:9 Android tablets suck donkey balls, like people have been saying for ages? I wonder what Fandroids have to say about that. They've been defending 16:9 forever.
Is it any wonder that Android apps look like crap? There is no standard at all.
I guess there weren't too many Android fanboys that were preaching that it was NECESSARY to have that screen format so they can watch a movie, while composing an email, and surfing porn sites all at the same time to give sooth their ADHD desires.
Blasphemy. Apple does not copy anyone. Apple lives in a bubble. All features apple demonstrated about a month ago. Invented by apple. Apple invents all. Shut up fanboy.
Yeah. Make sure you take your medication today. Lets hope that was sarcasm.
Apple copied at least nine features Android has had for years with iOS 8. The one sided copy argument got old a long time ago. Not to mention the fact that Apple was never going to go above a 3.5 inch iPhone because that was the perfect size. At what point did it not become the perfect size? Maybe we should change the name of the forum to HI for Hypocrite Insider. Everyone copies including Apple.
In 2007, when the iPhone was released, 3.5" was huge for a phone.
And of course there are minor features that Apple implements from time to time that can be found on other systems. I don't think that too many people would deny that.
Here's the thing.
Without Android, if Android had never existed, it would not make any difference at all to Apple and to Apple users, and Apple's iPhone and iPad would still be awesome and they would look like they do today.
Without iOS, if iOS had never existed, then Android devices would be extremely different than they are today. Android devices would still look like pathetic Blackberry clones in 2014, if not for Apple.
Any monkey can steal an iconic design and add a few gimmicky features to it. That takes no talent at all.

What a bunch of tools.
Has Apple ever changed strategy? Never going to me an iPad mini, iPhone was never going to be bigger than 3.5 inches. If we had a nickel for everything it was said "apple would never" lets just say we would have a lot of nickels.
Ah, so they moved to 4:3 finally? Apparently the iPad has a "pathetic/ancient/etc" 4:3 ratio, and 16:9 was the future? That's what every Android fan and Apple basher has been saying since the first Nexus came out. As always, empty, intellectually dishonest rhetoric and doesnt stand the test of time.
Oh, and those bezel ratios look almost IDENTICAL the the current Air/mini. Yeah, I'm sure its completely coincidental/accidental.
Pathetic. At the end of the day, the Android tablet app situation is still utterly dismal- they can knock off the iPad design all they want, but when you have shit for apps, it doesnt mean much.

Is that anything like Apple's move to a 16:9 iPhone or the move to a much larger display this fall?
HTC makes great hardware and I think this is one attractive piece of technogy. I'm curious if they will refresh their Nexus 7 device as well. I've been in the market for a secondary tablet to my iPad Air and I wanted to spend less than the price of the Mini Retina. I own a lot of Apple products but I'm not really tied into the ecosystem in any meaningful way. Use Office 365 for cloud storage and school work, Bluray for media content, Spotify and Pandora for Music. Other than a few apps, it's easy to live a cross platform life.

My comment was simply based on the fact that everyone at some point will copy technology. It would be stupid not to add a feature because someone else added first. I will assume at some point Apple will add the feature to drag and drop multi windows on the iPad something Kitkat already does, that is just a smart move to add that feature.
Apple certainly added at least 9 features Android has had for many years. Even the most diehard can't deny that fact. I don't own anything Android based or anything Windows based but it's getting annoying to always hear people act as if Apple doesn't add features that Android or Windows had first in their OS.
As far as the aspect ratio if Samsung or others have found the 16:9 ratio was the wrong way to go they would just be stupid not to change it because Apple went that way first.
This was always a Steve Jobs bullshit fight which isn't hard to see now that Google and Apple have made an agreement to work things out when it comes to copyrights and it won't be long before Samsung and Apple do the same. It's impossible at this point for the hardware and software not to cross platforms at this point.
We are certainly at the point where the ecosystem is going to be the defining factor, Apple has had that advantage for a while but Google is starting to get it's act together at least on some level. The reason Windows can't get any traction isn't because of their hardware it's because their ecosystem sucks and is well behind both Android and iOS.
Perfect example is the Surface Pro 3. Has really nice hardware great fit and finish, the screen is really nice looking and it's light for a laptop replacement. Windows 8.1 runs better, but it has nothing to offer when it comes to a real ecosystem and apps.
Also on a final note the SCOTUS made a ruling last week that in the long run is going to make is much harder if not impossible to patent software.
Incredibly innovative and not at all like an iPad. ????????
Isn't it funny how the manufacturers derided Apple's attempt to patent their rectangular iPad design and claimed that there was no possible way it could be designed differently. So then Apple squeezes in the edges with the Mini and subsequently the Air making a new design and what's the excuse now? Why do they have to so blatantly copy the design just when Apple changes it?
One thing that these android hardware companies don't understand: it's not about the hardware alone, but hardware+software+apps+ecosystem. Whatever they do with the hardware, it's still not correcting the fragmentation. Apps on android tablets are pathetic.

I think you're either ignorant or misinformed, but no one said 3.5" iPhone, but 3.5" screen. Also, Apple didn't say 3.5" screen was a perfect size, but the size of the phone which allows one-hand use. In fact, iPhone 4 and 5 sizes are actually narrower than iPhone and iPhone 3. That means Apple didn't violate that idea. If iPhone 6 with 4.7" screen is released as the purported one lately, it's still one-hand use (yes, I used HTC One M7 with 4.7" screen with one hand perfectly). If for human's sake that Apple makes 5.5" version, it's not intended for everyone, but an option for those with big hand or those who don't care of one-hand use. When we say "option", it means they have more than one size for people to choose...get it?

Another boring and horrible Android tablet.

Caution, Android is also a walled off garden.

nope. with all the manufacturers and app stores, it's anything but.

It has a white dot there.
I’d be extremely surprised if they’re not sued over it.
