The volume buttons have to be like that. It is very thin, closer to 6mm now, so the buttons are more towards the bottom, pointing down, than to the sides.
The little hole above the volume is simple a Pilot Hole. This piece isn't finished yet. That hole is for the mute switch to be machined later.
I actually like the current design of the iPad Air, the tablet just need a few refinements and it will be just fine. It's time to start saving as I prepare to pick up a new and improved Air on its launch date. Finally Touch ID on my iPad :-)

Shouldn't have to save too much, really, assuming you sell your iPad Air to Gazelle or whomever.

Just go find another website. MacRumors would love you.
Lol
The lies, mainly.
Lies? Better go to a therapist crazy cartoon!
Okay.
Third post. Way to start out.
Yes, lies.
The lies, mainly.
You had a gif for this. What happened?
Tell that to the MacRumors crowd whining about no stereo speakers.
The more I hear about MacRumors, the more I am glad I don't visit that site.
I personally think it makes no sense to try and listen to music on the iPad or iPhone speakers. Use earphones/ headphones/ speakers/ Air-play.
I mean, really, what kind of stereo separation are you expecting along the width of an iPad?
This reminds me of a funny story: "a ventriloquist and an iPad Air 2 dummy walk into a bar..."
And say ow...?

MacRumors is ridiculous. It wasn't always like this -- sad, really. But it really is awful.

We’ll hold you to that.
I doubt it.
Are you looking at it? It’s far too small for a switch.

Agreed! I currently own a 16GB iPad mini Retina and will sell it on Gazelle. I hope I get a reasonable price for it.
Well, as of NOW, Gazelle would give me $350 for my iPad Air 64GB WiFi only. So, not bad.
