Welp, was hoping to get a Grey Plus 64GB sooner than October, but it's looking like the Apple Store website isn't coming up in the US anytime soon, so I just bit the bullet and ordered through ATT since the Apple Store app doesn't allow off-contract pricing for god knows what reason. I'll try again in the morning, heck maybe even show up launch day at the store, and cancel my order if either of those work.
I've been pre-ordering since the 4, and this is the worst I've ever seen. I'm surprised more tech blogs aren't covering this outage. It's a pretty embarrassing fail for Apple.
While waiting, I'm refactoring some Swift code ...
The ViewController can download a 2,700-ecord database from a web site and populate an iTunes-like table (multiple, moveable, resizable, sortable columns) in less than ,04 seconds with 7 lines of code ...
I actually practiced, yesterday -- navigating the Apple Store and the [partially integrated] ATT torture chamber (order one, then start over) and have everything reay to copy paste ... but I can't see any pasteies ...
by and by, all European stores are working. try (store.apple.com/fr). Europeans tend to drop you like a rock if you as much as make them wait in a queue. Can we afford that now, or can we. State side, people are... well, nice
After two considerably painful hours I have just managed to place an order for:
iPhone 6 64 GB White x1
iPhone 6 64 GB Black x1
...via the Apple store www.apple.com.au and was successful.
Both were two separate orders and appeared to suddenly go through very quickly, so hopefully there may have been an issue that has been/or is being addressed?
Is the Apple Store web site still using that old NeXT WebObjects platform??? If so, that 'splains a lot of things -- and Angela has her work cut out for her -- bringing the Apple Online store into the current century (if not the current decade),
Apple does so many things right, but they tarnish it with these horrible product launches. Their market research must have led them to believe the demand would be overwhelming, but ya gotta think they don't mind much if there is just this one day debacle once a year.... as folks will wait & order their iPhones regardless. I guess it's good PR that their products are so popular that the folks will do whatever to get their hands on them (like I did getting up at 2:55am), LOL
noticed that the u.s. apple store finally came [back] up. placed my order. took all of about 45 seconds. what an incredibly frustrating experience to have gone through "we'll be right back" for 2 1/2 hours.
Saw the store was up, all t-mobile 6+ were delivery in October, but then noticed in-store pickup for 64gb space gray (exactly the one I wanted) had 9/19 pickup for Boston's Boylston St. store, so placed order. ::::whew:::::
After trying multiple times on the phone app, the website came back up. Took 2 minutes to place the order. Delivery date was estimated to be some time in October. Forget that! Chose the option to pick it up at a local store on release day. I just hope it isn't packed! Never picked one up at the store before. Should be interesting!

Same here ...
Now, off to bed!
P.S. In your sig -- I think the name in Mickey Campbell.
I just bought 64 gb iphone 6 space grey on Canada website, all the 6+ says 3-4 weeks ship but all the 6 says 9/19-9/23 except 64gb gold says 7-10 business days. email confirmation came 2 mins later. Good luck!

Or maybe many of us are getting disillusioned?
Can't say I blame you guys.
This process desperately needs to be improved.
Good luck guys and gals.
No option for you to order through one of your friends at a Store? I understand the little amount of purchases they are allowed per year though...

On a side note while waiting: if it's specifically the US store, why say "We'll be back" in all those different languages?
Because they want you to think it's a global problem, when it clearly isn't since other country's Apple Store websites are up and running right now.
They don't know who they are or where they are -- or both!
When it finally comes up I wonder if they'll show me "Sold Out" in 8 different languages too?

I think they just want you to know they are consummate polyglots, and that they can tell you "sod off" in 20 tongues. Can't keep shop in one!

Can't stand it anymore. 2 hours. I finally got through after 90 minutes and it wouldn't accept my at&t passcode. Tim, you suck. Yes, you.

Mmm ... Maybe IBM can help

At 5.40 am EDT I was able to use the Apple Mobile Store App to place my order for a 6 Plus for address delivery Oct 6-10.
