glean what you can from the pics. i know you can learn a lot from all the clutter and mess that's surrounding my desk area hhaehaehae. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

:o i got mine (ACD) when they were offering $500 off with purchase of a new PM (~March 2k2) plus i was already getting the educational pricing.

and since it is the first mac i've ever owned, i wanted to get top-of-the-line components. and i'm purty sure (i'm hoping!) this monitor is gonna last me a looooooong time.

of course, it really helps in FCP, Director, AE, Flash and all the other timeline apps.

To me the biggest problems that stop me to buy Apple ADC based LCD displays are:

    1) No way to turn off the display while keeping the CPU on

    2) No way to share it with multiple machine without spending over 600 bucks for that fu(king ADC/DVI switch box

These problems are omitted when I am using DVI or VGA based monitors

    Here you go....

What I said 'something' is related to internal component.

    This is..........

    A GeForce 4 Ti Card!

I actually wasn't planning to get this card. But I got a special deal on this card (15% OFF!) PLUS I don't have to pay anything until next Feburary!

    The card....man...is long.......

Even though later if I don't like this card I can sell it off at eBay without losing money

Roughly testing some apps. Lightwave 7 absolutly smokes with this card. Cinema 4D however doesn't use any hardware accleration at all....but version 8 will and hope the guys at Maxon aren't lying to me. Otherwise I will kill them

OK, this is cool. I got tired of waiting for Apple to put USB in the front, so I did it myself!

    <a href="http://www.ssba.com/lad/USBlg.jpg"; target="_blank"></a>

That is a USB 2.0 port next to the floppy drive.

Plan to do the same with firewire soon...

    YES! So awesome!

Here is updated pictures of my setup. I moved the laptop to its own table now. It doesn't have to share a bedroom with the PC and 7500 anymore.

Well, I suppose I'm going to have to clean my desk now. This you may see:
    • My PC: Duron 800, Win2K. LaCie Electron Blue III 19" monitor, 15" secondary monitor.

    • Sun Sparc 4, Sparc 5, one Sun 17" monitor,

    • Compaq Prosignia VS server. A 486DX2/66, to be used as a server/router.

    • Performa 6300, floppy nicked for the 6400 elsewhere, 600i CD drive lying around for use in Prosigna and Sparcs. Can use 5400/6400 motherboards due to a <a href="http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/pipexdsl/o/aouq46/PowerCC/PCC2.html"; target="_blank">PSU mod</a>

    • PowerBook Duo 230 + Dock (Dock PSU and battery awaiting fixing)

    I feel so dirty.

New machine folks. Yeah, probably lousy timing, but I couldn't wait another day for it, and I couldn't pass up the deal. Long story short, it worked out to a $450 discount on the machine. Couldn't say no to that, even if there may be an update around the corner.

700 MHz, 12.1" screen, Combo Drive, 20 GB HD.

    <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/murbot/ibook.jpg"; target="_blank"></a>

Also went wireless again, but this time I decided not to bend over and take it from Apple with the Base Station. I went with the Netgear MR314 wireless router for $239 CDN (Airport Base Station is $469 CDN). Almost half the price, and WAY better range - amazing, really.

    <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/murbot/router.jpg"; target="_blank"></a>

Now I have an iPod and a FW Hard Drive calling my name...
