Rumor: iOS 8.2 release is imminent from Apple, iOS 8.3 to follow closely behind
iOS 8.2 could be released to the public as soon as next week, while the release of iOS 8.3 may not be far behind, setting the stage for the launch of the Apple Watch in April, according to a new report.
Details on the anticipated releases of Apple's two iOS 8 updates were revealed on Friday by BGR, which said iOS 8.2 could become available as soon as Monday. However, the report did qualify that "last minute problems" could delay the release until the following week.
A total of five betas of iOS 8.2 have been provided to developers, though the most recent one was a month ago.
Unsurprisingly, not far behind iOS 8.2 will be iOS 8.3, as Apple has already provided developers with two betas of that release even before 8.2 becomes public. Sources reportedly said that Apple plans to have "as many as four" beta versions of iOS 8.3 before it is released to the masses.
Betas of iOS 8.2 supplied to developers gave them the first opportunity to toy with the WatchKit tools intended for the forthcoming Apple Watch. Presumably iPhone users will need to have iOS 8.2, or perhaps iOS 8.3, installed on their handset in order to connect to the Apple Watch once it is released.
As for Apple's March 9 event, the company is expected to give final details on the Apple Watch before it goes on sale in April. The highly anticipated wrist-worn device will carry a starting price of $349.
Apple is expected to open up iOS betas for public testing in mid-March, potentially starting with iOS 8.3. That would mark the first time Apple has made advance versions of iOS available to non-developers.

I’m not having any problems with 8.1.3 and will be welcoming 8.2 with open arms. Each iteration gets better no natter what the League of the Perpetually Dissatisfied says.
I think there has to be some iTunes and App Store additions coming soon too. Apple might not roll those out until the actual shipping day though. IIRC, there are going to be third party apps available on launch day (an important difference from iPhone's launch.)
Do we think 8.2, 8.3 are iPhone only? Can you connect Apple Watch to an iPad - aside from the fact that I'm not sure why anyone would want to? (Yet.)
I don't think anyone denies that each update to iOS 8 improves things. That doesn't mean there aren't bugs to still be squashed.
I predict 8.4 will follow 8.3

They'll be on iPad too; 8.3 brings further improvements to Siri at the very least.
Anything will better than 8.1.3. So many problems - Siri crashing, music app crashing, music lowering volume as if notification came in (but didn't) then never coming back up to level, still have times when I can't go backward to previous songs in Music app, battery life, iTunes match not syncing album covers and so much. This is after factory reset and setting phone up as new. Keeps getting worse as 8 goes along. Here's hoping 9 is the bugfix release they claim.

Before. 9.0 probably won't be out until September. Unless all we get are a bunch of point releases.
I have had none of these issues on iPhone 6. Are they specificly relevant to other models?

iOS 8.3 contains Swift 1.2, and could be released anytime -- I suspect that Swift 1.2 is needed, ASAP, for the Apple / IBM partnership -- and could be tied to an iPad Pro.
When iOS 8.3 is released it will support Apple Watch.
I've had those album art issues in iOS 8 on an iPhone (iPad Air too) Even songs I bought on the device don't always download the art, which is hilarious.
It does have legitimate issues. I've done three restores on my iPad Air trying to resolve the Other storage issue, including a clean restore. Didn't work at all.
I predict 8.4 will follow 8.3

Troll? Hardly. I've had iPhones since they became available. My IT support business is run on Macs. I have a 100% apple household.
My experience with iOS 8 has been lousy, and I have colleagues who've run into similar issues.
So as an industry professional with 20 years experience and dedicated Apple fanboi, I can tell you that Apple has a lot of work to do in the stability department with iOS.

For those who uses their iDevices very little, they may not notice any problems.
For those of us who use them extensively, the problems in iOS 8.1.3 are numerous and unacceptable.

I know you're making a joke, but I think 8.4 is unlikely. I think 8.3 is mostly for working with ?Watch and then we'll se one or more 8.3.n tertiary point updates to address bugs, with iOS 9 being demoed this Summer at WWDC and then iOS 9.0 released this Autumn around September.

Tim Cook has already said that the Watch will be available for sale in April so that March 20th date makes no sense. I think the lead time between formal introduction and availability will be longer than people think. I wouldn't be surprised if it's around a month lead time to get apps ready, to get any OS kinks ironed out, and also to get Apple Retail up and ready to go.
