Reiteration of a previously stated sh-tty situation...
I'm in the market for a new computer; I also happen to be a student of the 3D arts. At the moment, I'm considering doing that which up 'till a week ago I considered unthinkable: switching back to PC ( ). If I don't hear any good news from A|W or Apple at MWNY, I may be forced to go PC (reluctantly, though). It's a damn shame, but I may have no choice.

It's the typical asinine reaction you'll get from Apple zealots. They're in denial concerning Apple's dire situation with professionals.
With Apple hardware in it's current pathetic state, I'm not suprised that you are considering switching to x86. You will find that x86 hardware will be faster, cheaper and have significantly more software options.

The truth is we don't really care if you are "forced" to switch to a PC. If there isn't software on the Mac for you to use, that's fine. Go ahead and get a PC if that's what you need. Different machines and software are suited for different tasks -- didn't you know that already?
You're not going to get any hand-holding here.

How much longer will this argument hold true (if it still holds)?
What tasks are you referring to? Audio? CG? Games? Office? SD?

I do CG, particularly 3D; I'm going into my third year School of Visual Arts (Computer Art Department). My next computer should only last two years at the most.

What it means is why do we care? If you're going to buy a PC then good, hope it works well. Did you post it to try to get us to convince you not to? To sell "no don't do it, PCs suck? There was just no point in posting it, that's why I said that's nice.

I DO care, and am interested in hearing about others' decision-making processes. I am also considering a move back to PC, and so are many others on this board. Nowhere in the charter for this message board is it written " 'forward-migration' stories only"

perhaps you need another dose of RDF. Theres some laying around www.apple.com. Check it out.
If macs can't do what you need to do, then you obviously can't use them. Personally, I'd like to see every1 use a mac, and if they req'r a peecee app, then see them use vpc. But, if it cant cut it for you, then happy trails to you. I hope you enjoy ur shyt box.
Use the best tools suited for the job.
If Apple's offerrings really aren't sufficient for your needs and is costing you more than helping, by all means please *do* get a PC. I'll easily admit that the Mac is not the best platform for 3D, but I still use C4D on my Mac rather than a PC because of all the *other* software I use on it too.
Does anyone really have any more to add?

Interesting view of that comment considering you are a PC troll who spends a ridiculous amountof time on a Mac website. What makes it even more interesting is that you used to be PowermacG4 who always had "inside" info from Motorola.
I think you need to go spend some time at some PC-centric websites if you are so unhappy with Mac.
