Did I say you lied? I merely inferred you did not try all options as I was easily able to do it. I was pointing out that maybe you had made a mistake in what you were doing since I had no issues at all in getting exact pricing without an account.

That "Really?" is a statement of disbelief what I wrote was truthful so, yes, you did write that I had lied.
No. They want us off the unlimited data plans. Verizon makes you buy the phone at the unsubsidized price to keep a UDP. Now AT&T is makin you buy it from a company store. I'm guessing they'll phase that out, too.
My habit has been to purchase at the 2-year contract price, and then immediately buy out the contract for $325. That works to about $150 less than the non-contract price. Can you buy out a Next contract immediately too?
As soon as you buy out the contract, you get the $25/month non-contract discount, per phone. Doing that, makes AT&T quite competitive.
really?I already have an employee discount, would I still eligible for the $25 discount? If yes it is really a good deal.

When you say, employee discount, do you mean as an AT&T employee? Or as the employee of a company that has negotiated a discount?
My wife works for a company that has negotiated a discount from AT&T (and most of the other wireless companies) for employees. That discount is applied to the "data plan" only part, not the individual line charges. I assume most of these contracts with companies are basically the same, though the percentage amount may differ (I was basically told this by the rep who handle's the wife's company's AT&T account). So yes, you really get the $25 discount on each line if your data plan is 10Gb or more.
We pay $100 for the 10GB plan, minus x% for the wife's employee AT&T discount through her work, plus $15 ($40-$25) for each line (no employee discount on this part).
Correct. That is why I immediately buy out the contract, to get that discount. I can then also unlock the phone, although I have no intention of leaving AT&T. The resulting deal is too hard to pass up.

Yes. It changes the $40/mo Smartphone access fee to $15/month. The FAN (Foundation Account Number) discount applies to whatever data plan bucket you have. I misspoke earlier, we have a 24% discount (not 26) off of the $75/mo 7 GByte bucket = $57, plus two $15/mo Smartphone access fees. Total: $87 (plus taxes of course).
The 7GB plan was a promotion a few months ago. I used to be on the the 15 GB promo plan from last year. ($100). My actual usage is typically 1-2 GB/mo. So it was a great deal for us.
AT&T's service plans are really very simple, even with discounts. They get all wacky when you throw in equipment.
I still can't find any info about the trade in upgrade policy. I don't want to trade in my phone at the end of the contract. I want to keep it to use internationally and eventually hand it down to family member or friend.
There are 3 Next plans 12, 18, and 24. on the 12 plan you can either trade your phone in and loose all the payments you made on it to get a new phone at 12 months (give your phone to att and loose your investment), or on the 12 plan you can pay the full term of the phone off till you own it which is 20 payments. After those 20 payments you own the phone. on next 18 you can trade in your phone for a new one at 18 months or own it after 24 payments. On next 24 you can trade your phone in after 24 months or own it after 30 months.

I think you can give it to a family member. I had a iPhone 3G from AT&T and I upgraded to the iPhone 4 and my mom got my old phone. They probably just do something with the SIM cards I think and activate the phone for your family members number.
It's not complicated. NEXT is a better deal than subsidized purchasing, I've already moved over to it entirely for iPhones AND iPads, and it's the best change they've ever made.

You can't make a blanket statement like that because everyone's needs are different. I'm personally at 37 GB of data usage for this billing cycle. If I was on a tiered plan the overages would be pretty high, and a plan that would allow me to use that much data is much higher than the subsidized price.

And I would have lied about that why?

No. It was making sure I had understood you correctly. I did not think you were lying. I did think maybe you had not tried hard enough.

Not lower until you own the phone out right.

I just can't find that in writing anywhere on their site.
Here is a text grab off ATT's Website:
With AT&T Next, the regular price of your smartphone is divided into low monthly installment payments that are conveniently added to your bill.
Options:
AT&T Next 24: Divided into 30 installments; trade in and upgrade after 24 installments.
AT&T Next 18: Divided into 24 installments; trade in and upgrade after 18 installments.
AT&T Next 12: Divided into 20 installments; trade in and upgrade after 12 installments.
AT&T Next 12 with Down Payment: 30% of device cost down, divided into 28 installments; trade in and upgrade after 12 installments.
Note the installment number vs. the trade in and upgrade number. If you complete the full installment of each plan you own the phone outright.
Heres the link to the page I got this from :http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/next.html
