[quote] The Computer Store at 45th and about Roosevelt in the U District is your best bet... and they're good enough and entrenched enough and *well liked* enough that Apple is reluctant to destroy one of the few bastions of Macland in Seattle.
OTOH, they are expected to open a store in the area by March 2003. Sorry, can't recall where I saw this... perhaps in one of the recent quarterly meetings.

Yeah I worked there for a spell and it's really a decent store. One of the larges on the West Coast. If anyone ever comes to Seattle...check it out.

I've also been, but honestly I just want one Apple Store here in Seattle. By saying that i mean a true Apple Store..not a store that sells Apple Products like the one on 45th. It's a great store, but I want Apple to open one just to rub it in Microsofts face in their own backyard.
I hit CompUsa because it's closer, but they are total morons. I make sure I know what i need and go in and out without needing help from the ChimpUSA employees

First off I want to second that request for a Apple Store in Seattle. We rule. Why would the leave us to battle M$ on our own? Second that store on 45th is crap. I would almost rather go to CompUSA. Oh well, we will get one some day.

OMG, i knew I knew that initials.
I managed the TCS that opened in Tigard, OR for 2+ years. Was at PDX before that.
I have an apple store some what close to me its a very nice place they even gave me a free bottle of water the whole time I was in there. I am road tripping out to NYC to see apple SoHo in august I cant wait
I haven't spent much time in the Netherlands, but what's the logic of selling Apple products in a furniture store? Is the market so different that an Apple Store wouldn't work?
I recently went to Paris... Apple shops everywhere! No, they weren't Apple run, but there were tons of places selling Apple stuff and quite a few dedicated stores. The group Fnac had great Apple areas, sometimes taking up a whole floor, with plenty of machines to try out. I went in on the launch date of Warcraft 3, and a sales guy was organising an 8 player network game for anyone to join in with.
"Exciting times right now. I was telling a buddy the other day that things really seem to be falling into place, regarding hardware, OS X, the whole overall Apple approach/philosophy, etc.
Be curious to see how things are a year from now. OS X will be, without question, THE OS (no more OS 9 or Classic needed...EVER), all the hardware will be AT LEAST G4-based and well over 800MHz, possible new iApps (or updated, even cooler versions of the ones currently in existence, perhaps a new digital device or two to accompany the iPod, more "Switch" ads, all-new campaigns in general, etc.
I really do believe (AND, have been saying this for YEARS) that Apple simply needs to come out swinging a bit more than they have been in the past few years. Now that OS X has arrived and is pretty much "there" (and will be even more so with Jaguar), Apple is in a position (unlike, say a year ago) to take off the gloves and come out gunning for newbies, converts, switchers, frustrated Wintel users, etc. like never before.
Apple specifically said at the Financial Analyst Meeting that they are looking for retail space in Seattle and Portland, Oregon. Apple only wants quality locations. it isn't that those two areas are any less important than the other ones, they just haven't been lucky in finding suitable locations.
Apple should really get a store in Omaha, Nebraska?there's really no store close to this area or in the "midwest" at all... though I've heard that a Kansas store is coming, but that's too far. Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, maybe even southern South Dakota residents would make a pilgrimage to a store around here. There are a couple of niceish malls around here (Oakview, maybe Westroads.. and they're supposedly going to build one in west Omaha (the "nicer" part, arguably)). We really need it, our only Mac representation is CompUSA and Nebraska Furniture Mart, really.. and I don't think there is a single place selling Macs in a mall-type setting, though there are a couple of small retailers (who can't even possibly come close to comparing to the Apple Store experience) in strip malls.. but most people around here don't know anything about Macs, don't even know to consider them or if they know anything it's woefully out of date and nobody ever talks about anything because there is hardly any presence, let alone anything really COOL like an Apple Store around here. I mean, hell, if Apple put a store out here, it would be on the news, in the papers, in Omaha magazine..
I know what you're going to say, though. Nebraska? Ha, why? Well, we do have an economy, and we are just as technologically-enabled as the rest of the country. There are 1.8 or so million people in Nebraska alone, and more than half of that is in Omaha. Then there are surrounding communities, Iowa, Missouri, etc. 5% of that is nothing to sneeze at. And I really wish there was a *good* place that people could go where it's just all about Macs and they can really get the feeling and excitement of Apple. God knows, I'd try to work there. My grandma wants to get a Mac (well, she just wants a computer and the internet, but there's no way my grandma will get anything less than a Mac ), and I'm kind of afraid to take her to see the iMac G4s at CompUSA or NFM..
If they're putting Apple Stores in Kansas and Colorado, then Nebraska and Iowa need one here in Omaha! Come on, Apple... if Gateway closes what, like half of their stores, and we get to keep one (and ugh.. it's profitable. as disgusting as it may sound, I suspect it appeals to the rural hicks of Nebraska with the cowspots, or something. heh.), why is there no Apple Store here?!
i really wish apple would open up a store in bern/switzerland. i got laid off as a webdesigner/mac-support guy and the working situation in switzerland is pretty f**ked up.
why not earn money doing what i do all day long: evagalize and help with questions and problems?

I'm surprised people still do considering they got pretty much never gotten anything right.

Completely agree.
