Delayed Shipping from Apple Store

On the first morning the new G4s were available, (about an hour after), I ordered a G4 1Ghz Dual with 512 RAM and 120GB HD, Word X, an IRock iPod adapter, and Apple Pro speakers. The ONLY product that shipped on time was the Apple Pro speaker set.

If you are ordering from Apple direct, make sure you ADD at least 5 business days to whatever you are told will be the latest ship date. I have a nice collection of emails from them stating that there is an "unexpected shortage" yadda yadda.

WHY does Apple show 3-5 day availability on the Mac and 1-2 day availability on the accessories when it cannot DELIVER on what it says?

Apple: give us REAL TIMES for our WAIT. Save us a lot of disappointment. After all, you and Moto did have an EXTRA MONTH after MWNY to get these things ready. I can only imagine the feelings of the 1.25 crowd- that would SUCK.

You should realize by now that many new computer offerings rarely get delivered on time from Apple. Apple's suppliers and manufacturers have consistently had trouble delivering product. It's been a fact of life for years and you just have to accept it. Your computer will come soon so chill out and go on to more important things in life.

I don't know. When I ordered my laptop last year (iBook a week or two after the icebooks were released), the estimated arrival time was 3-5 weeks. As people who ordered after me and before me all got theirs much earlier than mine, my iBook arrived exactly 5 weeks to the day that I placed my order.

On the other hand, they sent me within a week an AV cable and a laptop case that I couldn't use without the iBook. It's like Amazon.com sending us batteries weeks before a piece of electronics we ordered is ready to ship. you know, for our convenience.

Chilling out means another week before I can start a new video project for a valuable client. I am not going to change computers midstream on a 6 month project. And also, there is nothing more important to a Mac user than his Mac. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

You make a good point. Maybe I should take these last few days off and spend them with my kids before school starts. Thanks for the heads up.

As far as the shipping order, I am going to have a nice new copy of Word X a full week before the Mac it runs on. For my convenience.

    Here's what I ordered:

    Adobe Design Collection $399

    Kensington Slim Microsaver Lock $39

Microsoft Office v.X for Mac Academic $199

Epson C80 Color Inkjet Printer $142

    Kensington Pocket Mouse Pro $39

    iBOOK 700 14.1/256/30G/CMBO/AP/KYBD/OS/L $1845

I placed my order on Sunday and today the status page shows my order was being assembled. I chose to have everything ship at the same time, so I wouldn't be recieving my shipment in pieces. Apple said my iBook should ship in 7-10 days. I hope it DOES come next week.

That Adobe Design collection is an absolute steal at $399, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, LiveMotion, and even the full version of Acrobat, all for OS X, and all for just $399! I chomped at the bit as soon as it became available and ordered it, my first legal copies of of Adobe Software, I'm so proud. Of course, they are educational versions, but you can upgrade to retail for a decent price down the road.

I was very dissapointed when I got an email from Apple regarding my order for the iPod remote/headphones, they said they didn't expect to have them in stock for another 22 days. When I spoke to the apple rep on the phone, to cancel the order, he told me that sales of the new iPods have been through the roof, so they had to divert all supplies of the remote/headphones to fulfilling orders for whole ipods, and that accessories would become available separately later.

And I still haven't received my shipping confirmation for jaguar yet! They told me wednesday or thursday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be getting an email today.

It does suck that apple can't offer an exact measurement of precisely how long it will take to fulfill your order, but such is life, just try not to have an annuerism.

    ciao,

I ordered my QuickSilver 2002 and got that on time. It was the top-end model at the time. It looks like you ordered BTO. BTO always takes longer.
