    simcity was great

    simcity 2 was awesome

simcity 3 was good (albeit slow)

and simcity 4 looks great, and I can't wait

Does anyone know the mac release date (I assume (hope) that it is coming to the mac).

There has not been an announcement that there will even BE a Mac release of SimCity 4.

edit: Oh yeah, I suppose I forgot to mention that I was a HUGE SimCity fan. I had the old SNES SimCity game, the Mac version of SimCity 2000, and the Mac and PC versions of SimCity 3000. 2000 was a great game on the Mac, but 3000 was absolutely horrible. It was excruciatingly slow, even on my dual 500, and it reeked of "cheap Windows port" all over. I just hope if Maxis makes a Mac version of SimCity 4, that it isn't half as bad as 3000 was.

    *sigh*

Simy City 2000 special edition CD collection (urban renewal kit!!) was baller when I played it on our Macintosh IIci. Sim City 3000 just absolutely sucked. I'm lookin forward to SIm City 4.

I loved all of the old Sim games when I was younger. That's what I used to spend my time doing on my dad's old Performa years ago

Haha, I used to play SC2k on my dad's old performa too. I must say that the Mac version of Sim City 2000 was light years ahead of the PC version. But for 3000, it is slow on pc's and macs.

Sc300 was shit, sloppily ported by a bunch of former Soviet nuclear scientists who were apparently very new to Mac programming (this is true, actually) and never once recieved an ounce of support from the publisher, nor a single patch.

Gonzo is quite right. I remember reading about those bozos at the time.

Hopefully the team that brought The Sims to Mac OS X will be the ones bringing SimCity 4 to the Mac. I haven't played The Sims, but I've heard it runs rather well on X. Is this correct?

    I hope SC4 has a SCURK too.

And some more really cool cheats.

Until that great day comes, has anybody actually been able to play 3000 either in OS X or in Classic? I haven't found an OS X patch, and playing in classic usually doesn't seem to work.

Nope, 3000 doesn't work in Classic for me either.

There will never be an OSX-native patch for it.

I just want the original sim city to be recoded for x. I don't do classic (period). Is that too much to ask? I'm stuck playing it on my SNES.

any sim tower fans out there? mmm, mmm, elevators! I LOVED simcity 2k, one of the greatest games of all time imho. 3k was lackluster, and was easily the worst in the series.
