Major screen freeze......

I was in the movie section of Apple.com, had opened the new trailer for the next Star Trek movie. It played the first 10 or so seconds, and everything froze. I had no access anything, only the mouse would move, and the screen would dim if I stopped for a few minutes. I tried every combination of keys that I could remember, as I couldnt remember Apple's version of ctrl-alt-dlt. I could not do anything but a hard boot, which I am sure is not good for any computer.

Any ideas?

Oh..I am running IE v5.2.1

    download this program for suck situations: <a href="http://versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=14756&db=mac"; target="_blank">http://versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=14756&db=mac</a>;

    escapepod a little app that runs in the background in OS X and will kill the front most app if you type "control-alt-delete" (just like in windows)

    Apple's force quit key combination is "apple-option-esc" BTW, but it doesn't always work.

    I have found escapepod to be more reliable.

    Don't use IE. Seriously. Get one of the other better browsers out there. That notwithstanding, I can't imagine that IE managed to freeze your whole computer. The only thing that I ever had do that was a finder issue. Are you sure that IE caused it? Did you have any network drives mounted or anything like that?

    IE was the only thing I had open at the time. It started when I had began the movie trailer. Not sure what you mean about network drives mounted. As for the other browsers, all I have read about other browsers show they are either complete crap, or buggy at best. I tried Opera once, but the downloaded version is a trial. I dont want to have to buy it

    Believe it or not, these "buggy" browsers are less crash prone than IE. Do yourself a favor and try Chimera: <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/projects/chimera/"; target="_blank">http://www.mozilla.org/projects/chimera/</a>;

    I think you'll like it better than IE. It's also free.

    Well, it definately loads faster than IE. I had wanted to try something new, but have heard that Netscape wasnt that great, and most other browers were either very buggy, or crap entirely. Will try this out for awhile...thanks!
