Legal ways to download MP3's

Does anyone know a site or program that allows you to pay a monthly fee and legally download MP3's or just a legal way to do it. No Peer to Peer file sharing.

I believe Sony is getting ready to implement something like this. It is inevitable that the industry co-opt the internet distribution model. Your only other option is to cruise mp3.com; in addition to some incredible unsigned talent out there (or at least non-national talent), lots of big-time artists release material on mp3.com.

Unfortunately, mp3,com just recently cut the number of songs by any artist down to three. I used to find whole albums there, up for the grabbing. They even chopped my bands songs down to three from five. So much for being generous.

I use Direct Connect with a group started on a music board. It helps out quite a bit with deciding what new music to buy. I have saved myself from buying a few stinkers. Peer to peer is the only way to get quality sounding downloads. Kazaa and WinMX are horrible. Not to mention, Kazaa is a virus playground.

Kazaa does suck, but it's almost as useful as Naptser was...almost...

Those bloody PIGS. I haven't checked my artist page in MONTHS (well, ok. Years), and I find that they knocked me down to the three songs that get almost no traffic.

I knew there was a reason I didn't bother much with them, anymore.

Well, that and them instituting that stupid "artist cash" rather than cut me a friggin' check once a quarter.

    Angry. Very angry.

Emusic is the only one I know of that works on the Mac. Most of the legal services use Windows-only copy protection.
