Humor is about the unexpected, the twist, incongruity, unless you think Andrew Dice Clay is funny.

Now that’s funny!  If you don’t know why, PM me and I’ll explain it to you.

Best I can guess is that The Dice Man was a caricature of the very people who thought he was funny.  Which is sad rather than humorous in its own right.  But if I’m not getting it, perhaps you can enlighten me here.  I can take the joke, even if it’s on me.

Bad Lip Reading videos are far more surreal humor than lampooning or satire.
I know this is meant as a humorous break in the endless negative news and dumping on Apple, but it just gives me a headache.
I suppose if this is someone's first exposure to Bad Lip Reading and think that it's about "skewering" or "lampooning" Apple then they won't appreciate it.  This isn't about critiquing Apple, it's just a gag where a guy matches the "lip flaps" of famous people to say ridiculous things.  I especially like the early ones covering Hunger Games and Mitt Romney.

I guess it takes a lot to tickle my funny bone these days.  When I was young I’d be rolling with laughter at stuff that today I just look at and think, really, someone spent time out of their life producing that?   Not sure if I’d characterize it as childish, adolescent, or what?  Maybe adolescent is closest.  Like the American Pie movies, or those Hangover movies.  I occasionally am recommended to watch those, and for the longest time I resisted, but a while back I switched on one of the Hangover movies.  It proved to me what I already knew; my friends have retained but not refined their senses of humor since high school.  And let’s be clear on one thing... I absolutely will judge your intellect by your sense of humor.  I’ll take a pass on meeting in person anyone associated with this Bad Lip Reading trope [sic].
It's not really "time out of his life."  He produces Internet content for a living.  Isn't that what you do?

So do others. And you know what they say about irony... or maybe you don’t... Double irony...

Kudos for the effort, but not very humorous.

I have to disagree and I wouldn't voluntarily watch an American Pie movie either.   What's hysterical about the Bad Lip Reading is three things:  how well the lip sync is done, the uncanny voice impersonations and most importantly (to me), the attitude.   It completely retained Apple's self importance and over-the-top style at these events.   While I wouldn't want to watch more than one of these and I wouldn't want it to be any longer than it was, I think it worked as comedy quite well.

But...different strokes for different folks.   One person's comedy is another person's stupidity or boredom.
Apple is about as chill as it gets during presentations, despite having changed the world several times over in their 40+ years. How is their style “self-important and over the top”?

Internet content, no, never.  Internet software, yes, in my past career.  I’m retired now.

Okay, I’ve now checked out several Bad Lip Reading videos.  Most are just disconnected segments to which they apply their art, such as it is.  Nothing comes together, there’s no underlying humorous or social commentary on the subject or targeted personality.  I don’t think it works on this level (see Saturday Night alive for an example of where impersonation yielding commentary works so well).  There’s a tiny bit of the type of humor exhibited in the Airplane and Naked Gun movies, a tiny bit only.  I think I saw some of that in the NFL video, but it paled in comparison.  I came away from the entire lot of their videos that I watched with the impression that the minds behind them are either lazy or simply don’t have a good grsap of even sophomoric humor.  I bet they imagine their work to be hilarious, otherwise they would either find a new line of work, or work more diligently to up their game.  As it stands, the stuff doesn’t come close, not in any form I’d call comedy.

I don’t think Bad Lip Reading is the funniest thing ever, but it is amusing. It’s definitely more absurdist humor than anything.

You can’t legislate humor. Everyone has a different sense of it, and looking down your nose at someone because you don’t get the humor is quite arrogant. Several of your posts smack of that unfortunate attitude.

I’ll own the interpretations of my views on this.  I don’t believe I’m being arrogant, provocative, yes, and simply providing my analyses and honest views.  I really do think there’s a strong correlation between sense of humor and intelligence.  I could be wrong, and would be happy to be shown that I am.

Millennial frat-boy humor. Someone here said it was the funniest thing on the internet, so I had to check it out. Not funny or clever. Yet another internet media whore who’s fifteen minutes have peaked.

    I love this line.

I can see little kids giggling like crazy at the random words and silliness of this clip ... a mature adult might smile once or twice.
I like Bad Lip Reading material. Yet, I’m such a mature adult that I make people uncomfortable with how serious I am. I have been like that since I was a teen, twenty+ years ago. I hate potty humor most times, and I hate movies like Dumb & Dumber. American Pie had some charm, but i don’t think it’s worth being a huge hit. It’s just embarrassingly ok.

Bad Lip Reading humor is way more like Monty Python’s Flying Circus. If you don’t find surreal and meaningless weirdness funny, then you’re not going to understand why others do.

Judging people’s intellect based on their taste in humor, when that taste is NOT one of harming others (like racist or sexist jokes), is itself an incredibly immature attitude. It’s like judging people on their musical taste. People are different. Taste is mostly not objective. It’s arrogance and probably a bit of projection of one’s own insecurity to pass judgement on someone because they like something you don’t.

Now sports and motorcycles... that’s just a clearly objective example of socially destructive insanity ;-)

I don’t think you’re being arrogant, just woefully misguided.  If you genuinely believe that humour is an intelligence test and that you can rate and define standards of humour corresponding to IQ well.. let’s just say it says more about you than anyone else.

Expect their objective is to be very successful and consistently accumulate millions and millions of views (e.g., 17 million for one of the NFL ones, 35 million for Hunger Games).  Pretty sure they know exactly what they are doing and aren't "lazy."
