Or it could be a bunch of Yahoos on Twitter wanted to cause “outrage” and planted a false story. Twitter is good for that. Alternatively a Yahoo on Twitter had a problem with their phone and tried to blame Apple on Twitter to produce “outrage” among like minded Yahoos.

    Anything from Twitter is suspect.

No, it was real. I saw it first hand. If it were a traffic issue, it seems that it would re-route you from another direction. There are many, many ways to get into DC. More likely, a map technician did not like Biden opponents going to DC and caused the issue which was later fixed after complaints mounted.

The only problem with your theory, is that everybody for the protest yesterday was already here when the alleged issue was happening. In fact, the protests had begun three hours before.

At no point were directions to addresses unavailable.

Or maybe the protesters were causing road problems?

Wouldn't this be some advanced tech from Apple if protesters were on the road causing traffic problems, so Maps updated accordingly? Sort of like a parade or a street fair would?

That would be awesome and helpful.

    It does, to some extent.

Apple Maps uses stationary iPhones that were in fast motion at least in part to determine where traffic is.

I have zero doubt Apple does that now, and it's common to navigation/map apps. Remember this story from a year ago?
    https://www.wired.com/story/99-phones-fake-google-maps-traffic-jam/

Apple would of course be taking into account unusually heavy and slow walking traffic when offering routing suggestions for vehicles. I'm sure traffic would have been rerouted yesterday afternoon even tho the vehicle speed reports would have been sparse to non-existent. Had you been traveling by car in DC yesterday and asked for directions to an address you would probably have seen this in action.
