Within minutes of their announcement, the 16-inch MacBook Pro and 14-inch MacBook Pro have seen their shipping dates slip back as far as December.

Good luck with that - most models have slipped beyond
Good luck with that - most models have slipped beyond "next week"

Announced at Apple's "Unleashed" event, both the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro were slated to be available from October 26. However, strong pre-order demand, and perhaps also supply constraints, mean most models will not now arrive until November.

Currently the base configuration of the 14-inch MacBook Pro still has the October 26 date. However, any alteration of Unified Memory, or SSD storage, pushes that estimate to November 5 through November 10.

No 16-inch MacBook Pro configuration remains available for the original date. The base M1 Pro model is already showing October 26 through November 2.

Selecting that base model but with 32GB unified memory instead of 16GB, is enough to push the date to November 5 through November 10. Then upgrading to an M1 Max version pushes it much further out to December 2 through December 9.

A maxed-out 14-inch MacBook Pro with 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU M1 Max, 64GB memory, and 8TB SSD now delivers November 10 through November 17.

That's better than the maxed-out 16-inch model, though. A 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU M1 Max with 64GB memory, and 8TB SSD, won't arrive before December 10 through December 23.

WOW! I know these are common for iPhone and iPad but can’t remember ever seeing that for a Mac launch.

Not surprised - A lot of people have been waiting/expecting these machines and they look like really strong devices. The only 'negative' is the notch. Personally I think it's unnecessary but I also think it will not be a huge deal in actual use. It certainly won't be anything that keeps me from ordering.

As a investor in AAPL, I wish they had focused production on the higher margin, higher spec/cost units.  If you can sell as many as you can make, might as well make more of the one that's more profitable until your demand stabilizes.

Whatever.  I'm a heavy in AAPL and I'm sure Apple's margins are more than adequate regardless of what model is selling.

These MBP's will be their best models yet, and I too have been holding off buying one until these were released.

On another thread, about a day ago, I predicted that any notch for a Mac would stay within the Menu Bar. I was right, but they had to increase the height of the Menu Bar to make that idea work. I may have to rewrite some code which has the pixel height of the Menu Bar hardcoded.

You must have just come out of a coma. There's a pandemic affecting pretty much everything.

I wonder if Monterey provides an API to get the height of the Menu Bar. I'm sure it must.

Imagine thinking that Apple doesn't have data on and plans for this sort of thing.

I ordered the 16”, 32GB 32 Video-core M1 Max.  It is set for delivery on Tuesday.  Looking forward to the productivity that this beast offers.
