From December 22, 2022, to December 24, two-hour delivery of items from Apple retail stores will be free -- for eligible products, and in certain areas.

It's no longer buy an iPhone 14 Pro online for Christmas, but certain models and configurations can still be bought at Apple Stores. And from now until the end of Christmas Eve, those purchases can be delivered within two hours, for free.

Apple's regular two-hour delivery costs $9, but that's been waived for the start of the holidays. While the fee has been waived, though, the usual conditions still apply.

"Offer applies to purchase(s) of iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple TV only," says Apple. "Offer is not available on customized Mac, engraved products, and for certain order types including orders paid for with financing or by bank transfer."

Apple is also careful to note that "delivery times vary according to your selected delivery address, availability of your items, and the time of day you place your order."

Items bought during this special three-day offer also remain eligible for Apple's extended return period. Returns must be initiated by January 8, 2023.

I don't think you've actually experienced an Apple Store retail delivery.  They contract with local drivers to bring stuff directly to your door and make sure you're present to accept it.  They send notifications when your order is on its way.  I've ordered a couple of Home Pod minis and a set of AirPods Pro through this service, which usually costs $8-10 extra for local delivery.  You really have to not pay attention to have your stuff stolen this way.
