iPhone 15 Pro might ditch gold in favor of blues and grays

Several rumors suggest Apple won't offer a gold iPhone 15 Pro color option, instead going with blue, black, and gray for the color scheme.

Apple's pro iPhone models tend to have muted color schemes to represent the more "professional" and more expensive nature of the devices. The fun, loud, and playful colors tend to be reserved for the standard iPhone models.

This trend is rumored to continue with the iPhone 15 Pro, according to multiple reputable sources. A new report from 9to5Mac with info from unknown sources states Apple will abandon gold in favor of blue, natural titanium gray, space black, and silver.

This rumor coincides with the leaker @URedditor from X. They have posted color rumors repeatedly in the past few weeks, suggesting Apple would have neutral color options.

Just a recap of the colors to expect on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max:

- Blue
- Space Black / Space Gray
- Titanium Gray
- Silver

Apple has only ever offered titanium in a natural silver color or Space Black with Apple Watch Series 7. Apple Watch Ultra is also titanium and only available in the natural titanium color.

Moving the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to titanium represents a new shift for Apple with the material. Customers are used to some variety of colors to choose from, even if pro models tend to be more muted.

Previous rumors suggested a dark red iPhone 15 Pro could exist, but those rumors haven't been repeated recently. The marquee color seems to be the new dark blue color.

The loss of gold as an option for pro models will likely turn off some customers, and moving to a more colorful standard model likely won't be an option since they'd be sacrificing many features like improved cameras. Instead, customers will likely hold on to their older pro models longer in the hopes for a return of the color.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 lineup during an event in mid-September. Rumored features include a titanium finish, periscope camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and a more powerful A17 processor.

I’m so over Space Gray. Les have a proper matte black option please.

I would love to see a midnight one and I'm still holding on to my iPhone 12 Pro because I absolutely love the Pacific Blue color of it which Apple dropped after the 12 Pro.

Yes I agree...it would be nice to see some fresh new colors across the Pro line. Kinda sick of silver, space gray and gold myself. I know most people put a case on it so you don't see the color anyways but I use a clear case so it does in fact show the color of the phone.

Yes, very yes to the blue depicted. Looks ultra high end as befits the high end iPhone!

Forget the gray. Everyone has gray. Like everyone else, I'd like to see a matte black iPhone, no matter what they call it.

Much as I like the gold colour on my 12 Pro Max, a lack of gold in the lineup won’t stop me from getting a new iPhone.  I’m with those who cover their phones with a case.

I always have a couple of clear cases (I currently have an Arc Pulse set of bumpers which only cover the corners and cameras). Colour is a big deal for me and dark colours as the only choice are not good for me. I had Pacific Blue for my 12 Pro Max and changed to the deep purple for my 14 Pro Max. I’ll wait for the 16 lineup and hope that there will be fun colours for the Pros then.

Space grey has become boring and bland. Bit dated honestly. I hope the new MacBook Pro’s come in new colors. In fact the MacBook Air midnight blue is very beautiful and has a luxurious feel to it.

Gotta bring back the military green colour (can’t remember what they called it) that they had with the iPhone 11 Pros. Still my favourite colour option they’ve ever come up with.

That color is officially called "olive drab." It was standard issue for fatigues during my service in the Vietnam era. Still in use for T-shirts and blankets. Many vehicles not deployed to desert areas are still olive drab too.

Not the greatest name for marketing purposes, though! Imagine, "Introducing the new iPhone 15 Pro, in stunning Olive Drab!"

In that case I’ll be sticking with my existing gold Pro then. Hopefully they’ll see sense for the 16…

Not really sure why the pro phones can apparently only have boring colours. I have the blue iPhone 13 and the colour is so muted that it's essentially just grey.
