What comes in the $3499 Apple Vision Pro box

Apple supplies the Apple Vision Pro with a number of items in the box, all so owners can get up and running with their headset as quickly as possible. Here's what inside.

While the Apple Vision Pro will eventually have a similar third-party accessory market, much like the iPhone, Apple includes some elements in the box it ships with.

Explained as part of the launch date announcement, and practically on display on February 2, users will get a number of items alongside the mixed reality headset itself.



For a start, the Apple Vision Pro includes the Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band. By adding both, Apple gives users the choice of how they want the Apple Vision Pro to fasten to their head.

Smaller items in the box include a Light Seal and two Light Seal Cushions, to minimize external light from leaking in and spoiling the effect for users.

The box also contains an Apple Vision Pro Cover for the front, an Apple Polishing Cloth, a battery, USB-C Charge Cable, and a USB-C Power Adapter.

    Well, it does come with a polishing cloth. That’s at least a $19 value, right?

    Okay, so what does that mean? I know what the Solo knit Band looks like,  but the Dual Loop Band? What's the difference between the Light Seal and the Light Seal Cushions? The light seal looks like a single unit, is this something that extends it further from the device? This article is super vague.

    I wonder if that's meant for the outside screen or the inside screens.  Bet it's fiddly to clean the interior.

    The demos had it running standalone but can project a Mac screen inside it's own virtual environment.  So it would seem not required but will be interesting to see what OS the Mac needs to run to work. I'd assume Universal Control is required so 12.3 Monterrey from 2022 or later which supports hardware back to 2015ish. Would be my guess. Next best guess is there is something in to that requires current OS which still gets you back to 2018ish.

    You know Apple will make it Apple Silicon Macs only to mirror the Mac into the Goggles, with macOS Sonoma.

    That wasn’t the question. It’s a stand alone device and doesn’t need a Mac to use. 

    The VP can run VP apps, iPhone and iPad apps whose developers let them run on the VP, and can be a display for Mac. 

    I’m still curious whether the VP will let you see a Mac physical display and virtual VP Mac display at the same time. Also curious how well a physical display will look from the VP and if so, I wonder how well it all works together, where you can have the physical Mac, iPad, iPhone display in view, a virtual VP Mac display, and VP apps floating around it.

    Don't be dumb.  If it can run apps on its own then it's a standalone device.  My Mac can remote desktop into other computers, that doesn't mean it needs other computers.

    Agree, no reason it shouldn't be standalone.
    Unlike say the Apple Watch which still requires an iPhone (and no other device options) to do even the most basic setup. 
    I'm sure set-up will be easier if you have another Apple Device because that is the way they work for any device setup these days they can pull or share a lot of information to get you up and running. 

    But the factors that keep Watch Tethered don't apply to the VisionPro.

    What does this mean? Apple will make a Mac whose sole purpose is to show you what's on a 2D Mac display inside your AVP display? If so, why do you think that? If you mean something else, then what is that?

    1) You really need to start looking into this device if you're going to make comments about it. For starters, running an iPad app is just a side feature, like how the original iPad OS could run iPhone apps. AVP runs visionOS and visionOS app from its App Store. It's also very much a standalone device. Just because you can easily AirPlay an iPhone display onto a TV doesn't mean that either one of those devices aren't standalone.

    I think they're clear enough.  They're saying that they think screen mirroring won't work with Intel Macs.  Could well be right.

    VisionPro is cheaper and comes with more tech than my top of the line Quadra 840, without a monitor or keyboard!
