    I told about raycer & domino technology middle of last year or little early a than that.

    I wish this to be in Record.

    I think if Apple isn't ever going to get into the pda market, it needs to keep up and excel in the subnotebook, like the little Sony kormac provided the link to.

    It works great and just about gets to my ideal for the best smallest computer form...that of a paperback novel. We have 100 years of product testing for the size that people will carry with them and in their purses...the paperback. All the research is done, just take out the drives in the TiBook; put in the iPod harddrive; design the keyboard a little better than Sony and it will sell!

    Hey, it's Kormac!

    Kormac, any tidbits you can give us about "Firewire 2", the G5, and new motherboards?

    It's so great to see Apple playing their cards right with Firewire. If they get on it and release the next gen Firewire at 1600 mb/s, they are in a position to totally dominate Intel's USB 2.0.

    They've got the DV transfer technology nailed.

    Their DV software totally owns.

    But their hardware is antiquated and lame.

    I'm hopeful that after MWNY, Apple's Powermacs will offer performance that is on par with the advanced software and FW technology. Can you confirm this optimism, Kormac?

    Please?

    This Domino and Raycer technology he is talking about, mpeg decode / encode, audio I/O, and all that good stuff is exactly what i said in "Raycer graphics coming but not in the form we were hoping" thread a week ago. There no one seemed to give it a chance, maybe with this info you'll believe us. And I'd have to say the reason he started talking about it over a year ago is becuase that's really how long they have been working on this, and its about time they finished up and released it.

    To give DansG3 the benefit of the doubt, there were new mice at MWSF, just not two button scroll - they were white. It's an easy conclusion to jump to if you hear "new mice coming."

    Hello. .... again.

    eMac & New PB G4...

    We just got the best of past technology.

    Well. For many, it should be good for long time.

    However, this is year 2002 and this year will be new century for Apple product line.

    Let's see why the products are announced early.

    Because , there will be big change in Mac H/W & S/W structure which new eMac & PB G4 does not have.

    We will see the core of new H/W & S/W for new generation of Mac for next 10 years. ( or 5 year ! Thing's change so fast..... )

    Here is clue.

    Think about this, After APPLE changed the OS, All of Hardware can be change without any program modification, if Software followed APPLE's Guideline with OS X.

    Now Hardware change is very simmple.

    Can this happen with M$ Window ?

    See ya again.

    Don't you think Quartz Extreme is what we have been talking Raycer for many months ?

    It is using OPEN GL for all 2D, 3D and Multimedia (?) !

    See above

    =================================================

    503 - Exploring the Quartz Compositor

    The Mac OS X Quartz Compositor seamlessly integrates 2D, 3D, and multimedia content on-screen. This session details the Quartz Compositor's design and capabilities. That mean Quartz Extreme can be accelate by Hardware !

    Raycer technology can be use with 2D, 3D but Multimedia is differnt.

    For all three to accerate by Hardware, You need

    special hardware. 2D,3D by Raycer technology and multimedia for DPS or Domino type!

    What do you think ?

    For the server, here is some interesting points

    <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=001511"; target="_blank">http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=001511</a>;

    ================================================

    3) Education

    - Workgroup management

    - Simple Finder

    - NetInstall, NetBoot

    - Universal Access

    - Printer Sharing (USB)

    ----------------------------------------------

    11) Inkwell

    - You didn't think that millions of Newton research would go to waste

    - Handwriting recognition

    - Integrated into text system

    - System Pref

    - Terminal demo [hilarious, showed Phil schiller writing "top" into the terminal]

    12) Rendezvous

    - Dynamic discovery for IP

    - Zero Configuration

    - File Sharing + USB Printer Sharing

    - Developer API's

    - Cool iTunes demo [Two laptops in range instantly share playlists.]

    -------------------------------------------------

    and

    17) Jaguar Server

    - Headless Operation

    - NetInstall, NetBoot

    - OpenDirectory (LDAP)

    - Server Optimized Java VM

    - Disk, Print + mail quotas

    - Python, Fast CGI, Ruby, TCL

    18) May 14th

    - RACKMOUNT Dedicated Servers

    - Major Release

    - New technology

    Jaguar Late summer

    - Preview Today

    - 6 CD set.

    ------------------------------------------------

    Let's imagine

    You are the teacher with 20 ~ 40 student. You can use New Apple server "rMac" (?) with 1 tera HD

    space.

    Your student use netboot to use inkwell based i****v2 to study. :eek:

    For this you need strong server.

    It can be 2U or 4U rack type.

    typical 2U rack

    But 4U rack usually have Raid HDD with system.

    When you look at this picture.

    what do you think ?

    Most important thing in WWDC is

    <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=001511"; target="_blank">http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=001511</a>;

    --------------------------------------------------

    Avie Tevenian:

    4) Dev tools

    - C++ compliance [STL support]

    - Project Builder

    - Compile Time of C++

    [admits that Carbon developers are making do with terrible compile times]

    5) Building better OS X apps

    - Ditch CFM, go native

    - Drop Legacy API's

    (Core Graphics instead of QuickDraw)

    (Use sockets instead of OT)

    - Embrace new technologies

    - Use filesystems carefully

    - Use performance tools

    -------------------------------------------------

    If developer follow the new gideline, Apple can change or ADD new Hardware based fuction overnight.

    Kormac, you will NOT see a teacher in a classroom with a rack mount server for at least another 10-20 years.

    Why? There are still a ton of teachers out there who can't even use the iMac on their desk (if they are lucky enough to have one), and schools WILL NOT PAY to have their own IT professionals who actually know what they are doing on hand.

    Edit: Not that it isn't a good idea, but public schools can barely keep up with yesterday's technology, never mind tomorrow's.

    Sorry Kormac, it's early and all.

    I still think it's a long shot, especially considering what technology is being utilized now. Unless it can be managed properly (and cheaply), schools won't go for it.
