Apple CEO Tim Cook personally invested $1 million in Trump's inauguration

In a bid to gain favor with the president-elect, Apple CEO Tim Cook has contributed $1 million of his personal finances to the inauguration fund.

Two men in suits seated at a conference table, engaged in conversation, with microphones and nameplates in front of them.
CEO Tim Cook is familiar with dealing with president-elect

President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, and tech giants want to ensure they are noticed. Companies and their CEOs have been making large contributions to the inauguration, and Apple is no different.

However, instead of Apple itself contributing its own funds, its CEO Tim Cook is providing $1 million of his own money to the inauguration fund according to a report from Axios. Apple itself will not be providing funds.

While the controversial president may seem like a character Apple would prefer to avoid, it isn't exactly possible given the current climate. This is evidenced by Cook's immediate congratulatory post after the election, followed by a dinner with the president-elect.

Cook has a vested interest in keeping Trump on his good side. Between constant pressure from regulators around the world and the potential tariffs could do to profits, Apple needs to find favor and gain exemptions and protection.

Every president presents a new set of challenges. Some want to break up big tech while others make enemies of China, Apple's manufacturing nirvana. Regardless of who's in power, it's not a guarantee things will be easy.

Tim Cook isn't alone in schmoozing up to the president-elect. Executives from Meta, Amazon, and other big tech companies have been meeting at Mar-a-Lago and donated $1 million or more.

Regardless of your political beliefs, everyone can admit that the CEO of one of the world's most profitable companies cannot ignore a leader just because they disagree. It remains to be seen if all of this work will benefit Apple in the end.

Prolly shoulda used his pseudonym, Tim Apple. That way Trump would know who to thank.

I'm old enough to remember when businesses didn't have to graft millions of dollars into Presidents' slush funds to curry favor and stay in business.

I guess you must be 10,000 years old who was born before the dawn of civilization. Every company, merchant, and oligarch contribute a slush fund to their president/king/czar for the coronation/inauguration since the beginning of time. Nothing new to see here.

Right on, Tim! This kind of support is what we like to see for the people’s president. Popular and electoral.

Tim Cook did the same thing with Biden. Also, why did Wesley coin the President-Elect as controversial? He won in an electoral college landslide and also won the popular vote by over 4 million votes. I’d say the country clearly stated who they wanted. No controversy here folks. Maybe let’s just stick with tech news and not show our biased political views in a tech article.

He's controversial not because he won, but because of who he is and what he believes. There's nothing biased or even political about that. The mountain of lawsuits, assault claims, overt racism, sexism, and indignation for any country that isn't the United States makes him a controversial president.

Saying someone is controversial isn't an insult or attack. It's a simple fact.

Actually he’s controversial because he’s a traitor, a convicted criminal, a convicted sex offender, a con artist, and a buffoon who makes this country a laughingstock on the international stage.

The difference is that Harris/Waltz conceded gracefully and not took up arms like in 3rd world country and mount a coup de etat against the House of Congress. Trump is not a buffoon. But a sore loser. And for that I kinda admire his views but find his immaturity distasteful.
Also Trump forgets his most ardent supporters. Poor Giuliani is down to living on food stamps and sleeping under a bridge. Trump won't step up to help him.

He won the popular vote by 2,284,323 votes. The country stated who they wanted, but for perspective, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2,864,974 votes in 2016. It’s not a big margin in the scheme of things.

Apple Inc. has not donated to President-elect Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook has personally pledged $1 million to the inauguration committee. This decision aligns with contributions from other tech leaders, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who have made similar donations to engage with the incoming administration.   There is no public record indicating that Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, made a personal donation to President Joe Biden's inauguration in 2021. In contrast, Cook has recently pledged $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration.

It's worth noting that corporate leaders often make strategic decisions regarding political contributions based on various factors, including the political climate and potential policy impacts on their companies.

Yes, Microsoft has pledged $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration fund, aligning with contributions from other major tech companies. This marks a significant increase from their $500,000 donation to Trump's 2017 inauguration. Other tech giants, including Amazon and Meta, have also committed $1 million each to the upcoming inauguration. These substantial contributions reflect the tech industry's efforts to engage with the incoming administration.   I pulled this information via ChatGPT.

That’s your opinion. Many of us believe it was Biden, his family, business dealings, and policies that are controversial in addition to the law fare waged against the former and future President.

We appreciate the articles, but perhaps they can be a little more universal instead than of obviously creating a dividing line.

Literally anyone can be labeled controversial by anyone who disagrees with them. Doesn’t make it so.

When the majority of the country approves of the guy enough to make him president again, it’s not what believes or stands for that’s controversial. Just the facts.
