Apple brings game card sharing to Apple Sports
The steady additions to the Apple Sports app are continuing, with a new option for users to share dynamic game cards.

Apple Sports users can now share game cards with friends
Following its launch in February 2024, Apple Sports was initially considered too basic, but it has been slowing adding features. Now a new addition is intended to get users sharing Apple Sports with friends.
The new feature is called Game Card Sharing, and Apple says that fans "can now generate and share dynamic game cards across all supported leagues, whether the matchup is upcoming, live, or completed." It's a free addition to the iPhone-only Apple Sports app, which is itself free to download from the App Store.
So rather than typing to a friend to say that their team has won, or Sharing a link to the Apple Sports details, a user can now send a visual card straight from the app. When reading about any game that the feature supports, there is a Share button that sends a poster-like image directly to Messages, or to Social Media.
The poster shows the headline score, and recipients can tap on it to get further details -- in the Apple Sports app.
It's a small addition, but it's one of the features that expands on what Apple's Eddy Cue said was a key design feature of Apple Sports. That was about getting sports fans the news they want, quickly and easily, and now Game Card Sharing is about sending that news to friends.
Game Card Sharing follows September 2024's addition of Live Activities to Apple Sports. Before that, August 2024 saw the added ability to track NFL and NCAA games.

This is even more important in today's era of online sports betting and fantasy sports. Any sort of game information data delay can be exploited. There is nothing new about this, people have been swindling others for centuries by using old data to their advantage (not just in sports).
The broadcasts should reflect what's happening in real time. Any "live" interviews could be put on a brief electronic delay to bleep out vulgar words but the actual gameplay needs to be close to realtime as possible.
It's not that much different than a finance app. You want realtime prices of equities. You don't want to buy/sell on the market based on a quote that's 10-20 seconds old.
I believe you can turn off Live Activities if it's an annoyance. I basically turn off almost all Live Activities since it's using more CPU cycles and thus power.
To be clear, I wasn't talking about 10-20 second delays. I was complaining about the 1-3 seconds when my phone or watch dings because of a run or a touchdown being scored while the play is unfolding on TV. I know I can disable the live activities, and I usually do swipe away the game from my phone when I am watching, but I do enjoy the feeds for games I am not watching. Obviously, at that point I don't care whether or not there is any lag.
