is an historic Los Angeles building that was formerly a theatre, abandoned in the 1980s. Apple turned it into an Apple Store in 2021, preserving its architecture and also making it a classical music venue.
According to local news station KTLA, a fourth night of anti-ICE protests on June 10, 2025, included rioters breaking into the Apple Store. Reportedly, iPhones, Apple Watches, MacBook Pro, and chargers were stolen, while "No ICE" and other slogans were spray-painted onto the damaged glass.

Footage shot by Twitter user Brendan Gutenschwager shows very many looters running through the store, before police sires can be heard. Subsequently, Gutenschwager has also reported that all stolen iPhones are now displaying an on-screen message. Please return to Apple Tower Theatre," it says. "This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.
The protests have ranged across downtown LA, with many other stores also being looted. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass says the protests are because of the Trump administration increasing its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
"I will just take you back to last Thursday," Mayor Bass told KTLA. "Last Thursday, there was nothing happening in this town that called for the raids that took place on Friday. Nothing was happening. Nothing warranted the raids."
"If you remember, at the beginning of this administration, we were told that raids would be to look for violent criminals, people who had warrants," continued Mayor Bass. "But I don't know how you go from a drug dealer to a Home Depot. To people's workplaces, where they're just trying to make a living."
According to ABC News, the protests began after ICE agents carried out immigration sweeps on June 6, including chasing people across a Home Depot car park. On June 7, Trump ordered 2,000 members of the National Guard into the city, later describing the protests as being like "a foreign invasion."
On June 9, LAPD declared all protests to be "unlawful assembly," while 700 members of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California, were also being deployed to Los Angeles. By June 10, the number of deployed National Guard members has been increased to over 4,000.
Apple has not commented on the damage to its store, which has now been boarded up while windows are replaced.

What's happened to America in just 3 short months? We've gone from a peaceful and welcoming country to one where the current administration is looking for an excuse to declare martial law and pit our military against its own citizens. This in NOT what was promised, and 100% NOT what I voted for.
We can live with looting in an Apple Store. We can't live with the downfall of democracy. But what are some news resources focused on?
It should be clear to everyone that using chaotic incidents like this one to justify actions that are deemed unacceptable in a civil society with laws and citizen rights is not isolated to the lawless opportunists. Those who are taking unprecedented and highly questionable steps to grab more power and control under the umbrella of chaos are doing much the same thing. This is simply one more step along the well worn path of transforming civil and democratic societies into autocratic, authoritarian, and dictator driven societies and loss of civil rights.
I do not believe the Washington Post's tagline of "Democracy Dies in Darkness" is applicable to what is happening in the US now and what happened in Germany in the 1930s. A much more appropriate tagline for our current situation and then is "Democracy Dies in Chaos." There is no hiding or deception happening, it's all out in plain site and in the open.
Actions of a few individuals capitalizing on chaos to loot are not the problem. Illegal actions by the United States President against protesting citizens is the problem. Going after people working at Home Depot or attending court about their impending citizenship is the problem. Zip tying children and hiding your badge while performing inhumane actions is the problem.
Suggesting otherwise is not only offensive and stupid, it's off topic. So unless you're here to talk about Apple boarding up an Apple Store after a looting, keep it to yourself.
This.
I am 100% against any kind of censorship. If we can't see or read differing opinions, then that is censorship. There was a time in our country, long before any president with a T or a B beginning their names, that we could agree to disagree. We could argue and still be friends. People are just too polarized anymore and can't handle that someone else might have a different point of view. As soon as they do, they're wrong. They're censored. You are simply continuing this wrong practice, whether you think so or not.
We're not a political website. This stuff really doesn't have a place here at all, but I'll be damned if we're going to allow comments to remain visible for people to discover that are harmful or factually incorrect. The last thing I want is someone coming here to learn something about Apple or see this news, only to scroll down and see rhetoric being propagated by entertainment networks masquerading as news channels.
You can disagree with the protests, that's an opinion. You can say that the people looting the Apple Store deserve justice. That's an opinion and most people would even agree with it.
I'm happy we allow political content on the forums because it is important to discuss. Extremist views from any side won't be tolerated because it silences the people that want to have a simple discussion. This isn't an echo chamber, it's a tech website with a forum. Discuss the topic, keep things friendly, and there'll never be an issue. But don't share lies and derail threads.
Awesome, now we have balanced talking points.
A side note, that you see your news outlets as provider of your "talking points" means you don't know what news sources are and you don't actually consume any news. You are just looking to be told what to think, see why we call it a cult?
What's interesting is that she is, at best, a Centrist, but usually appears extreme Left by comparison. I wonder how many of the others actually believe what they say or if they are simply that corrupt that they'll state anything they're told to say about a given topic simply to make sure the checks keep coming in.
I do think it is funny that she tweeted that out and nobody said a peep about it and when what's his face from ABC tweets a similar sentiment they went into a full blown meltdown. I kind of answers your question. This is all performative and they will do whatever performance gets them paid. FOX is "good" so they get a pass. ABC is part of "Fake news" so they have to attack them to keep their narrative up. That people on the two networks had the same opinion isn't relevant, they just need to keep the "us vs. them" narrative so the fanbase stays riled up. Obviously it works, 9secondkox2 is proof of that.
