Application icon in menubar?

I have seen this in a few different places. The first place I saw it was on my friend's dad's computer, in the menu bar it had the application icon instead of the name of the application (like in DP3). I asked him about it and he told me that it was always like that, so I thought maybe it was a setting I had over looked that he had forgotten that he changed, but couldn't find it any where. I have searched MacUpdate and VersionTracker for something like this but can't find anything like it. I have found a few snapshots on ResExcellence that have it, but they don't list what it is. Anybody know what this is?

It's an option when you run FruitMenu.

Is there anything else that can do it? A free-ware app perhaps?

Your still on that? I had it done once on my computer to but I don`t remember what it was. I`m almost positive that it was pathfinder.

It was in DP3, is that what you're thinking of? Because I know it's not from PathFinder, because PathFinder runs like Finder does, as another application. An application at the Finder's level won't affect the menubar for every other application, I believe this is controlled by SystemUIServer. I checked PathFinder, it's not an option.

I`ll go down and run top on my dads computer later and find out.
