I'll take nothing less than a G5 across both power product lines, and it can be noisy as I'm not willing to sacrifice performance for "listening to the birdies".

Oh, I may as well chip in here...

    Classic iMac:

    Kill it in September.

    PowerMac G4 Server:

It looke like they already killed it. Good.

    eMac:

Price Cuts by September. $800 and $1000 instead of $1000 and $1200. This is essential, since eMac replaces the original iMac and they need something in this price range.

    xServe:

Make drive bays available for seperate purchase.

    iMac:

    133Mhz Bus.

$200 lower price across the board.

    Full size RAM.

    PowerMac:

    Price for three models: $1499, $1999, $2499

Smaller case design, yet still easy-to-access insides.

DDR memory and a double-pumped FSB.

    iBook:

$200 lower prices across the board.

    PowerBook:

    Free Extra Battery

    Free Extra Power Adapter

    Free Mouse

    iPod:

    Double HD sizes.

    New Price points: $349, $449.

Free Engraving when purchased from Apple Store.

    Displays:

    New Prices: 15" $399, 17" $799, 22" $2199, 23" $2999

    AirPort:

New Prices: Base Station $199, Card $69

AirPort chipset on motherboards of all new models. (Thus eliminating the need for a card, and saving power and space inside machines.)

Things I'd always like to see:

Faster clock speeds, and more importantly, faster real world performance.

    More included software with computers.

    Two button+scroll wheel mice.

I also tried to keep the price reductions realistic to make the computers appear more competitive but still pricing them in such a way that you still pay a slight premium for the quality of Apple's computers.

do you mean without the hard drives? because they sell them with the drives now. A little expensive but not horrible. 499 for 120 @7200 RPM.

then again it is a little expensive

Well m1 muscle man, like I said in the "Ghz Powerbook" thread...

    Me:

Ah yes, the almighty gaming performance. Right m1? Oh wait, it was you who said we were spoiled rich brats. God I hate rich kids and their gaming computers. OS X sucks on portables now, but the Ti 800 isn't as bad as you make it out to be. And didn't anyone ever tell you, size does matter To borrow a line from Shrek, maybe he's just trying to make up for something

ANYWAY... I do agree that Apple needs a new revision on the "Power"Mac and "Power"Book lines. They are long in the tooth, and this MWNY, I predict, will NOT disappoint.

    --

You don't strike me as a true mobile user. I appreciate my small iBook 12.1. That's why I bought it. Sure the processor sucks. But, I bought it, many others did too. The PBG4 is a laptop, a mobile computer, not a desktop replacement. For the immense amount of money it costs, it should be a little faster in many areas, such as Airport, processor, RAM (new mobo for most Apple lines coming soon I hope.) But you seem to me like one of those PC Games kids. 64 megs of VRAM in laptop,

being completely objective (mostly) - i have to agree with detah and G4dude. i think you wussie's need to get a grip on this whole 7~9lbs being too much for a desktop replacement laptop to weigh. and yes, screw steve jobs for trying to underestimate his consumers intelligence by shifting the focus onto the form factor of the machines being the real deal, when the performance is barely keeping it's place in the shadows of peecee's.

and screw all you bratty f*kk's who want to do nothing but shoot down the possibility of apple introducing a whole REALLY revised tibook at mwny. you're just a whiney bunch of bitter dorks who don't want to think that their recently, or soon-to-be purchased tibooks won't be old form passe in the possibility of just 60 days from now. too bad. deal with it. it's punks like you that probably grew up as single children, brats, spoiled, and hated sharing unless it was on your terms. grow up, losers. i hope just for that sake alone, apple completey defies your selfish secret hopes and introduces an insanely different powerbook from the ground up - and you, once again as a reflection from a possible bad childhood experience where you bragged about a new toy you thought was the ultimate in cool to someone else, then found out the next day yours was old news and a newer one came out so you cried and stomped off to mommy and daddy - must relive this painful experience.

personally, i could give a shite less about the form factor and would much rather have a rocksteady workhorse of a laptop even if it meant the machine being twice as thick, made of abusable plastic, highly competitive processing power, fast ass bus, latest graphics chip, working world design screen, consistent airport reception, and a realistic 3-4hour battery in OS X; NOT 9. screw 9.

yes, apple needs to return to function before fashion. get the job done right, THEN be hip. so you scrawny gel haired model type pencil armed fools need to shut up about the weight and focus on the potential of power and workflow advancement FIRST. i for one, will not continue to buy apple for the mere sake of "ooh's and ahh's" at the local coffee shop. to me, the damn thing is just a tool. and yes, i use both peecee and apple. yes, i enjoy apple more. but if i have to use os9 for ANYTHING after mwny, that's just wrong. apple needs to make their machines more than able, beyond a shadow of a consumers doubt, that every single component is beyond qualified to maximize the benefits of it's new os. why? price. we pay a premium - we expect premium quality and service. i do not buy apple to "be different" before i buy it to "be efficient". (if you steal that slogan apple, you better pay me).

back to my point: i hope to heaven that we see an earth shattering mwny that introduces not only the already expected desktop revisions, but a new form factor powerbook that makes any of the "mines gotta be the best always" sukka's eat their words. and if they don't, so be it. the world will find other karmic ways to make you cry. ciao chumps.

Now, I agree with practically everything here, there are good suggestions for both inside and outside the box.

    My personal favs:

iBook : Faster G3, more RAM (256) on Mobo, bigger screen (to edge of bezel) and faster/bigger HDs.

PowerBook: Besides faster processor and Airport, it's perfect. Anything more I think would require a new rev, with new mobo, for faster bus/RAM.

PowerMac Gx: If not faster, then more processors! Nifty new case with more room and less noise, and new mobo for new connectivity, the next iteration of FW, USB, Airport, ATA, AGP, etc.

iMac: I might sound like a bird, but cheap-cheap-cheaper.

I'm not interested in all of the product lines, but for the ones I am:

iBook: Higher color contrast LCD that doesn't wash colors out at max brightness; increase maximum RAM to 1GB; 32MB video card.

Powermac: Standard DP on mid- and high-end models; Faster mobo architecture to address current bottlenecks; replace current 3-1/2" drive bay with a second, full-sized 5-1/4" drive bay.

Displays: Kill 15" and 22" displays; Introduce 19" LCD; Price remaining 17", 19", and 23" displays at current 15", 17", and 22" price points.

Oh, and I consider faster procs a given.

    50% more CPU power.

    80% the current cost.

3 year warantee included at a NOMINAL cost (ie., no more than 50 dollars US)
