iChat AV & 3GPP

Ok, so everyone is talking about an ipod & isight combo. but something

just occurred to me, why not use iChat AV to send a short video message to someone's 3rd generation mobile phone ? This function couldn't be that difficult to implement, seeing that quicktime pro can capture isight and export it to 3gpp, all that has to happen is that this procedure is built into iChat AV, seems quite logical to me and very Apple.

The trick is, how to get your data to someone's phone ?

    not so tricky...

you can send SMS messages to anyone via AIM (and by extension iChat) just by typing their phone # and a prefix (which i have conveniently forgotten--something like # or * or + i forget...)

it would not be hard to change that prefix to something else for video messages... the next step will probably be sending voice over IP to regular phones then the video will come soon after that...

I think the first trick is finding a 3GPP phone.

Since the carriers want to bill per message for MMS, they might not want iChat AV to be able to send video messages.
