Mac OS X & USB modem

The modem port on my friend's powerbook broke and it's going to cost $600 to replace it, and its not covered on applecare. He is looking for an inexpensive USB modem to use with AOL and Mac OS X. Something under $50 would be best. Anyone have any ideas where to find a usb modme that works with mac os x and aol? thanks.
