Sounds like racial profiling to me.

I heard they were just minding their own business and pointed a cell phone at the U.S. Army who gunned them down just because they were Arabic, Islamic and in the wrong neighborhood.

So a society or administration that gives the media a free hand is also vulnerable to its power - hence 'it better look good'.

And you think this fits the criteria of looking good?

This same sort of thinking led people to say that the administration *would* plant WMD in Iraq.

Little more than tin-foil hat conspiracy mongering, IMO.

Well, the U.S. government actually stated that they'd prefer them to be captured alive so they could try and extract information from them. However I don't think those two were ever going to allow themselves to be captured alive.

Having seen the Newseek body double pictures, I'm not sure even the faithful could positively identify the real Saddam, Qusay or Uday.

Uday ordered his own troops (Fedayeen) to torch his cars rather than let them be captured. Saddam had nothing to do with it.

    Finally, those bastards are dead.

What do you say now to replace your initial skepticism and hostility, Mr. France?

They might have been criminals, rapists and murderers but that isn't for the US to judge and not for us to judge. They should have been captured and stood trial in an Iraqi court once the occupation was over.

Somehow methinks the US government and military would agree with you, at least as far as the killing part. I like Alcimedes' version of events, if only as speculation. Of course, there will be the myth of their heroic fight to the end. There's a chance it went down like that too of course, but my merry machiavellian mind likes the former.

Generally in a "firefight" the two sides are are "fighting" with "Fire" ie bullets and more. And in most cases one side does not give up until dead.

Are you people really so diluted that you think the US can surround the house and "arrest" them? This is the same diluted thinking that believes that OBL is a "criminal" to be "brought to justice".

It's called "war". People fight and die. Today is was two of the worst people (ooosp I should be so judgmental, what right do I have?) on the face of the planet. Guilty of far worse than rape, murder ....
