iPhoto and the G5

Anyone willing to offer any speculation as to iPhoto performance on a G5?

How big a library would one of the new systems be able to handle before slowing to a crawl? What would be the best way to boost performance - processor speed, dual processors, memory?

Thanks,

Alex

unfortunately I'm not expecting much of a speed improvement.

iPhoto seems not to be plagued by lack of processor power or memory but just poor programming.

I'd agree with Applenut. iPhoto is predisposed to be sluggish. Running it on a G5 won't be faster than on a G4 [B]of the same clockspeed[B], but since G5s are GHz-fast, they'll run it faster than any G4 or G3 that you can buy.

Well, iPhoto on a system with 8 GB of RAM might be a bit quicker (assuming you have less than 8 GB of photos).
