Early picks, subject to change before the first kick-off next Sunday...

    Baltimore at Cincinnati

I think this is a pretty safe choice.

    Dallas at Detroit

The Lions are terrible, and Parcell's "we're not there yet" shtick is getting old

    Denver at Minnesota

Tough one especially after a by for Minnesota. Might have cooled them down a bit, but it's still a plus to have dome field advantage.

    Green Bay at St. Louis

Short week for St. Louis, I don't know...both these teams are enigmas. I'll say Favre has a good day for a change

    New England at Miami

Cold weather team in Florida. Week 1 yadda yadda

    New Orleans at Atlanta

    Worst match-up of the week.

    Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants

Deep down I know Philly is a good team. The same can't be said for the Giants

    San Diego at Cleveland

I maintain Cleveland's not *that* bad

    Tennessee at Carolina

I really like McNair, but I got burned for not picking Carolina before...

    N.Y. Jets at Houston

Who's the favorite in this game?

    Chicago at Seattle

This is a lock for Seattle

    Tampa Bay at San Francisco

Likewise, a lock for Tampa. SF has gotta be weary from 3 devastatingly close losses

    Washington at Buffalo

Still not sold on Spurrier or Ramsey

    Kansas City at Oakland

Oakland can't stop the run. Priest Holmes, Dante Hall...God help 'em...

    Baltimore at Cincinnati

i am actually going with the bengals on this one. the ravens still have almost no offense except jamal -- which, admittedly -- is quite a lot. but mor eimportantly, the bengals are actually playing everyone tough so far. couple that with them being at home, and i'll go for the upset (is this my upset special??? nah.)

    Dallas at Detroit

i still can't tell if the cowboys are really that good, or the rest of the nfc east is really that bad. but i'll jump on bill's bandwagon for this week.

    Denver at Minnesota

undefeateds usually lose their first due to complacency against someone they are heavily favored. but this isn't the case here, as the broncos record will guarantee that randy decides he "wants to play."

    Green Bay at St. Louis

Favre stinks in domes. ignore the rams/falcons, because atlanta's defense is just that bad. tough game, but i'll go with st. louis.

    New England at Miami

New England is jekyll and hyde all year. miami is finally riding ricky into the playoffs

    New Orleans at Atlanta

Worst match-up of the week, AND i get to see it on my t.v. this week. f'n hell.the new orleans/chicago game was so ugly, it was almost funny. not so this week.

    Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants

i can't figure out either of these teams. they seem like an evenly matched pair of headcases. philly MUST have this one to remain relevant.

    San Diego at Cleveland

i don't think san diego is as bad as the other league bottom dwellers, so they have to win eventually. plus, in the totally-average afc north, cleveland can afford to drop this without losing the race.

    Tennessee at Carolina

titans knock carolina back down to earth.

    N.Y. Jets at Houston

i think the jets finally found what works for them, and benefitted from the fact that drew et al. couldn't block crap. is this another jets late-starting season run?

    Chicago at Seattle

    this could get brutal.

    Tampa Bay at San Francisco

i wonder how much last year's playoff loss resonates with the niners. ignore those sacks against ramsey... the redskins have a screen-door offensive line. but tampa wins on the road, not at home. i'll keep saying it until they prove me wrong.

    Washington at Buffalo

the battle of two teams with nothing on offensive line. i say 17-13, but that won't be the score... that'll be the SACK TOTALS, and to top it off, bruce smith gets the all-time sack record AGAINST his former team.

    Kansas City at Oakland

mark your calendars. this is my upset special for the week. kansas city has been blessed up to this point, but they have also been playing with fire. history shows that undefeateds usually lose their streak against teams they were heavily favored against. plus, it's a nationally televised night game, and in oakland. kc still goes to the super bowl, but this loss (maybe their only one all year) will nag at them in the offseason

    Baltimore at Cincinnati

    Marvin is the better Lewis.

    Dallas at Detroit

    No Rogers. No win.

    Denver at Minnesota

    Culpepper is back! Yay!

    Green Bay at St. Louis

Favre in a dome. 'Nuff said.

    New England at Miami

Patriots defensive backups could start on any team.

    New Orleans at Atlanta

I hope McAllister finally has his breakout game.

    Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants

    Giants blow ass.

    San Diego at Cleveland

I'm picking them until they win.

    Tennessee at Carolina

    Carolina rocks hard.

    N.Y. Jets at Houston

Capers is the man. S-U-C-K Jets Jets Jets!

    Chicago at Seattle

This is my pick in my survivor pool this week.

    Tampa Bay at San Francisco

Tampa has been enigmatic but Frisco blows.

    Washington at Buffalo

    Bledsoe circles the wagons.

    Kansas City at Oakland

    7 - 0. Vermeil magic.

    Baltimore at Cincinnati

    I can dream can't I . . . upset O' weak #1

    Dallas at Detroit

upset #2 --Detroit: back with a vengeance . . . two good coaches

    Denver at Minnesota

    Get em boyz!!!!

    Green Bay at St. Louis

I really think that Green Bay will win resoundingly so I will count it as a pick for Green Bay . . . but I will BOLD St Louis cause I am detirmined to detest the Cheeseheads.

    New England at Miami

Rumors still circulating that Miami is a 'good' team

    New Orleans at Atlanta

Gotta love a team named after the phenomena of possesion in voodoo ceremonies: ie: that is a cover-name, a code word, for the spirits of the gods; the Loa that 'ride' a person in ceremonies. . . sort of their Catholic synchretism . . . call them the Saints and the Church doesnt pay attention . . .

    Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants

go Giants! . . . time to start the season!!!

    San Diego at Cleveland

I want the Chargers to win so that the Browns will fair worse in their division . . . but they will probably win.

    Tennessee at Carolina

This will be a good game . . . wish I could watch it . . . but I want the Titans to lose because i'm a Steelers fan

    N.Y. Jets at Houston

    Why not?!

    Chicago at Seattle

    . . . Alexander . . .

and with Stewart hurt what are teh Bears gonna do . . . . wait a minute . . . who do they got as backup?!

    Tampa Bay at San Francisco

die Golden Boys!!! . . . someone bitchslap T Owens please!!!!!!!

    Washington at Buffalo

Ever see Buffalo 66? Funny movie about an over the top Bills fan who rejects her son after he made her turn her head just as the Bills dropped a pass that coulda won them the playoffs in '66 . . . anyway, it tells me that they have fans who need them . . . that and the snow

    Kansas City at Oakland

Something actually tells me 'upset' here . . .and I may actually change my vote . . . ok . . .what the hey:

    Kansas City at Oakland

    upset 3#

ANyway . . .they'll come back and be in the superbowl . . .*ehem*

New England won too and I can't believe that you think Oakland will win on MNF.

Well, 10 - 3 on Sunday. Brings me to 41 - 14 on the season. Can't wait to see KC beat the crap out of the Raiders tomorrow.
  • Reply 132 of 202
Damn, the Texans really screwed the pooch on that Jets game. I was waiting for another last-second comeback...almost had it, too.

Their defense is playing third-stringers, ouch. We play the Colts next week, doesn't look good.

I think they needed an excuse to pull him. By the middle of the third quarter he was ina t-shirt, but they were still treating him on the sidelines, in front of the home crowd...in front of the cameras, as if to say, "No, see, he's really hurt...really!"

Anyway, Tuiasosopo looked like a deer in headlights, but at least he helped the Raiders to 10 points...and || close to tying it at the end of regulation.

ah well, i missed a few this week. still not bad, though.

the bucs, however, will not be returning to the super bowl on the nfc side. even if they do have the talent and a late-season run, their record is already shot to hell, and i doubt they would get much more than a home wild-card at this point. sure, it's possible to make it from the wild-card, but it ain't pretty.
