...and half of tampa bay's fans left in the third quarter.
now brad et al. need to pull together a nice, calm drive, because manning and harrison are eating up wansley on the outside the last two touchdowns.
JESUS! look at the box score! 28 points in the fourth quarter by the colts.
roughing the kicker?!?
this is truly the most insane game i have ever watched... i think.
personally, i would love it if this game ended in a tie.
son of a bitch... vanderjagt field goal... 39 yards. if the bucs lose this game (which is likely now), they better learn some damn humility from this loss.
what the **** was that call against simeon rice?!?!?!
Wow. That was a stunning performance by Manning in OT...capping off a magnificent 4Q. A really bad call by the umps though. Heh, Vanderjagt must be breathing a sigh of relief.
i think i had a small heart attack... several hundred times this game.
i just want to go on record that, even though i am the biggest bucs fan alive, i DID say that if anyone could come back from that deficit, it was manning.
i want to hear the post game from this... some of you may recall how adamant i was against the refs in the panthers/bucs game. many of the bucs felt the same. wonder how they feel tonight?
like i said, stupid ref call or not, the bucs had better start learning some humility soon, or this is going to keep happening to them. the whole defensive line was drop-dead on those last two drives in regulation. i mean, if you score 35 points, it stands to reason that a defense should be able to hold that margin...
i don't know what to think of my bucs anymore. at least my dad lived long enough to see the bucs win the super bowl (he passed away in august, but loved the bucs, and knew i did too).
p.s. one stat that the MNF crew failed to mention... the bucs hold TWO awful fourth quarter records. first, tonight, being the only team to give up a 21 point lead in the fourth quarter with 4 minutes or less to play, and also, back in the dark days, largest 4th quarter comeback against them... the st. louis cardinals came from 35 points down to beat the bucs int he fourth quarter (i believe this was still when neil lomax was their qb). maybe they can put those two records on the mantle flanking the lombardi trophy. ugh.
p.p.s. before someone corrects me, that largest comback is the largest REGULAR SEASON comeback from a fourth quarter deficit. i can't recall if the bills vs. oilers 35 point comeback was in the fourth quarter, but it was a playoff game (which are usually distinguished differently).
If a player starts out more than 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage, runs forward and leaps in the air, landing on any player, it is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for LEAPING.
This was a case of OUTSTANDING officiating for them knowing this obscure rule and calling it when necessary.

um, BR, i assume none of this is associated with you needing the colts to do well for your fantsay team, right?
but seriously, just like you can call holding on every play, there is a line where it's nitpicking and interferes with the game itself for no good reason. this was one of those times. was it good/outstanding officiating? no. was it accurate? yes. but if simeon rice touched someone, like madden said, it was a brush against someone's backside on the way down. vanderjagt missed it clean, and that's how it should have been. but simeon should have known not to take such a running start to blocking. if you jump straight up, the run does you no good. only risks the penalty to begin with. stupid on his part, i'll grant you...
p.s. hope you weren't replying while i was editing. apologies if so.

Actually I don't give a shit about who wins the game. I don't have their kicker. I am a huge Chargers fan. The point is Rice tried to illegally put himself in a better position to block the kick and was called on it. That was GOOD officiating.
And he didn't just brush the backside of his teammate. He landed full on.
Seriously. Although I have liked Brees since he was at Purdue and if we could just put together some semblance of a defense we'd be winning some games. That Brees to Boston combo is f'n lethal.
Wouldn't it be sweet if the Bolts could nab Kellen Winslow, Jr. in this year's draft?

i don't understand what's happened this year with them. 0-5? sure, it hurts to lose a leader like seau, but 0-5??? i fear marty just doesn't have it anymore to get teams past around 9-7 or 10-6, respectable, but just not very dominant (though i can't explain the congregation of talent that he got for a few years in cleveland... kosar, ozzie, the sky-five receivers, vicious secondary -- then one 98-yard drive given up to elway and that was it.)
hey, maybe you can answer a nagging question for me... whatever happened to natrone means? he blew everyone up for about a year and a half, and then i never heard from him again. did he get traded? retire?
by the way, gary shelton just made the comparison i was struggling for last night. intentional or not, the colts "rope-a-doped" the bucs, letting johnson and company score quick, then getting the defense back on the field. over and over and over again. then, when it counted, the bucs were gassed. they couldn't keep up. on the last touchdown pass from manning, rice had nothing left and just stood there, grounded in cement.
i don't know if the colts meant to do that (i mean, who would say they would spot the bucs a 21-point lead with the intent to come back), but, boy, it looked like ali/foreman to me.
p.s. how much do you think it would cost the bucs to rent dante hall for next week? maybe he could just fly between games? please?

It wasn't just Seau. It was Seau, Harrison, Ryan McNeil, Alex Molden...basically most of the secondary. Currently they are starting second year Quentin Jammer, rookie Sammy Davis, rookie Terrance Kiel, rookie Drayton Florence at nickle, and the only vet in the secondary Kwame Lassiter. They just can't clamp down and hold a lead.

That was a total BS call on Simeon Rice on the missed field goal.

It's in the rule book. Deal with it.
Did you see the replay?
It was bad officiating.

Lemme guess who your fav team is.
And rok, I agree.
The Bucs definitely gave this game away. The Defense failed big.
My best friend is a Bucs fan from St. Pete.
Long suffering, his propaganda over the years has made me a fan too.
Sorry about your Dad, but glad he saw them whoop the Raidahs.

The San Diego Chargers. I couldn't give two shits about the Colts. The call was excellent and you can't handle it. Get over yourself.
we can agree on "good" (though i define it in this instance as "accurate," but whatever).
chargers, huh? i like 'em too. i miss stan humphries. when his bell wasn't ringing, he was a damn good qb.
Wouldn't it be sweet if the Bolts could nab Kellen Winslow, Jr. in this year's draft?
David Boston sucks! I like the Charger uniform.
