So, my assignment for Philosophy is to take a TV show (Sienfield , Simpsons) and write about the Philosophy in it. I want to do Family Guy, have any suggestions on the matter?

Fat, white, middle-class bigots are funny. -- is that a philosophy?

Compare and contrast the stereotypical philosophical dogma expressed by various characters.

    Stewie -vs- Mom

    Brian -vs- Dad

    Daughter -vs- Son

    Handicapped Neighbour -vs- Nosey Neighbour

    mix and stir

"Id, Ego, Superego and the martini-sipping Dog"

The rest of the family are just splintered characteristics of the one "unified" character, Brian (the dog).

    I dunno....

All I know is that its twice as funny since I've been living in Rhode Island.

There is a lot of local....ummm....flavor thrown in......and the atrocious accents.....this is coming from a New Joisey kid...hah.

There is a definate community vibe to it....ie they interact with a much wider section of their neighbors then say the Flinstones.

Do it on star trek TNG instead. A show that practically promoted communism and collectivity in the Reagan era.

there's a book called 'the philosophy of the simpsons' or something like that. maybe 'the simpsons and philosphy.' its pretty interesting. its a series of essays that look at the characters and running themes, and compare them to philosophical ideas. i think one of them compares Bart to Nietzche's Uberman (Zarathustra). you could poke through that book, and do something similar, replacing simpsons characters with family guys. if i remember when i get home, i'll post some of the essay titles.
