Can you no longer edit mpegs in Quicktime Pro?

I used to be able to select and drag portions of one mpg to another and then save as a new file, but now that doesn't seem to work. I think it was QT 4 or 5 last time I tried until now. Do you have to use Imovie to do the editing now and then just export to quicktime?

If it's a muxed mpeg (do a get info while it's opened in quicktime), you'll probably have to demux it into separate audio/video files, and try to copy the audio onto the video track. Look around for mpgtx if you have to do it.

How about VOB files? Is there a good utility for converting a VOB into an mpg1 or 2 or avi even?

Do a search on VersionTracker... things like ffmpegX, OpenShiiva may be of use.

No... you can still do it. You COPY and the ADD (not paste).
