Has nobody ever wondered about the color of the iBook? I'm the *proud* owner of a 14 incher since about a week now and I still can't get used to it being so white. I came from one of the last PowerBook G3's, one of apple's nicest feats of design - although the TiBook is probably close up there - to this, to be frank, Barbie 'puter. To say it like it is, my iBook affects my masculinity. So I would like to see, in the following update of the iBooks, at least a choice in color. And then make it black. Plain old boring eighties-elektro black. Do you catch my drift?

i've just bought a white stratocaster to make it match my icebook. Actually i'm completelly dressed in white today (sunny Mallorca).
i'm going to buy a new white small nokia. ipod is white.
SuperDrives trayloading? And you say that doesn't fit a TiBook? I guess the TiBook form factor will be changed with the next revision so we _can_ have SuperDrives. Apple wants to lead the digital video revolution and thus wants to be able to say that their PowerBooks are the first to include DVD burning. Plus: The TiBook's form factor is more than 1.5 years old now. But I'd say there will be both new iBooks and new PowerBooks by MW Tokyo. (Usually a good place to present notebooks to the world.)

If your definition of "new" is flexible enough, I have no doubt that your prediction will come true. If your definition of "new" is "new form factor", however, my guess is that you will be disappointed. Even though Apple wants to lead in the desktop video revolution, I think it will be hesitant to take a step back in terms of portability just to accomodate a portable SuperDrive.
The current iBook fulfills my needs (even though I desire a lighter 'Book), so my hopes and predictions are more modest.
Maybe Apple would release a special version that _would_ be thicker but include a SuperDrive? I know it doesn't sound very 'Apple', but I also think Apple is good in talking to Panasonic about SuperDrives. Maybe we _will_ see that rather sooner than later. And wouldn't it be cool to burn DVDs on a TiBook.
But then I also have to say that I don't expect people to burn DVDs on the run. I have only an external CD-RW on my first gen TiBook (500), but I don't _really_ miss it when I'm on the way. We will even stop using the 'Transfer' folder on our server at work, we'll just 'rendez-vous' in iChat.
What I would _like_ to see would be a 'book of the 12" iBook size but the slimness of the TiBook, using an IBM Sahara G3 processor running at 900 MHz or 1 GHz! The processor really rocks, as it has a SIMD engine close to AltiVec (although I have no idea whether it's in any way compatible with actual software...).

Drop the optical drive, or at least replace it with a slot-loader, Shave a pound or two off the total weight and you've got Escher's dream-Book.
They should make more low budget CHUD movies budget on G4 ibooks in the back of moving vans. Sorry
I am close to buying an ibook but am waiting for September and my master card to give the o.k ..I hope we get more options across the models so that we can at least add a DVD drive to the base model.
File under completely random, but this from one of the offically sanctioned but unoffical Ben Folds websites:
Apple I-Book Commercial: Ben has a speaking role in an upcoming commercial for the Apple I-Book.
New commercials usually mean new product. Paris Expo?
what commercial? there have been no new hardware commercials since the beginning of the "switch" campaign... the last one was the iMac commercial with the guy walking down the road looking at an iMac in a store window
The actual release of Jaguar isn't guaranteed to, but is also not unlikely to, spur some upgrades. The bottom two iBook models DON'T HAVE ENOUGH RAM. Someone might notice and shift them so to improve the early impressions of Jaguar, many of which will be coming from the biggest group of people who have it early, the ones who are buying new machines.
More likely, they'll do one of those end-of-life bundles that they don't reveal are for EOL, giving away a free stick of RAM with every iBook from now until Christmas.

Just came from the "Wonder Twins" thread in GD and saw this post. Been a trip back down memory lane for me today.
Damnit, I'm getting old.
