Waiting for local disks, Stalling

I was logged on and started itunes and some other programs. It seemed like itunes failed and like the whole thing froze, i mean i could still move the mouse and all but there was the swirling beachball and everything was stalled. I tried to force quit but i couldnt. So i restarted my iMac by holding down the on button. When it started up it starts loading up but then gets paused on the loading and says "Waiting for Local Disks". And it wont go past that. I have restarted and tried again but it wont work. What is going on?

It kind of makes sense. It was probably trying to mount your iPod as a local disk...that's why it took so long on the "waiting for local disks" part of the boot process. It may have been searching for boot volumes on the iPod or something like that...I don't know enough to tell you why it happened that way, but it does make sense that ditching the iPod would fix it.
