i have a digi 002 and an mBox for portable work. the mBox is ok but no midi. digi just released a new product that falls somewhere between the mbox and 002. i think its about a thousnad bucks. i dont know much about it as i've been out of the loop lately - but its worth checking into.
i was concerned about digi being uber-proprietary - and they are but their stuff works.
there are a few other firewire control surfaces that are application independant and around 1200$ - they are worth checking out too.
