When it comes down to hardware, PowerBooks take the gold... Videocard, screen, harman Kardon speakers, and of course... Backlit keyboard...
All of it is just so yummy, ...! I'm planning on switching to a mac, within the next week... The only thing I'm regretting is the lack of games for a mac.
Oh yeah, and one other thing that got me wanting a mac was watching Pirates of Silicon Valley... a must-see for all computer users... After watching it, I kinda lost what little respect I had for Bill Gates...
Pirates of Silicon Valley is must see. I don't know why Bill got so mad at Jobs for beating him to the punch with xerox. Also, I wouldn't be mad at Jobs for saying that Jobs is copying him. Guess who copies who in the future. The only question I still have about mac. Is the Mac commericial still the best commercial ever devise?

yeah, after watching it, you really see the intentions of Jobs & Gates. Gates just wants power, and wants people to rely on his software. Jobs, on the other hand, really does care about what he makes, and tells Gate that "Our stuff is better than yours." ... kinda the turning point for me... definitely going to get a mac soon.
After years of working on Wintel computers, I was frustrated by the amount of upkeep their systems required, the degree of user-unfriendliness, and the constant system crashes. My Wintel at work and a supplementary Wintel supplied by my employer for use at home were always being worked on by IT specialists.
I switched employment in 2001 and, after having to return my employer-supplied home computer, I was finally in a position to buy my very own home computer. I had the impression, from working on a Mac at job way back in the ?80s, that Macs involved less upkeep and were easier to work with all around. My G3 iMac has not disappointed me. I would not buy a Wintel for home and firmly wish I could work on one at the office as well.
I think that your poll is incomplete in not including a user-friendliness and reliability category.

Have always been a Mac user. Went to a friends house in high school and he was playing Maelstrom. I wanted to play Maelstrom. I got an LC 630 and played lots of Maelstrom. That computer lasted me until I bought the Sage iMac I currently use. And this one will last me until Apple releases a G5 iMac.
I've always used all sorts of different machines, but I've never paid money for anything but apple computers. However, I would absolutely love to have a thinkpad again.
I put down that I have always used a Mac, but that isn't exactly true. I switched from my trusty Kaypro II 16 years ago.
You had one too! I remember when my dad brought our Kaypro home. The little 6 inch green screen, the keyboard that latched onto the front, it was so cool. I remember playing some ladder game for hours on the old Kaypro. Our next computer after that was an LC.

That's what I already did, of course, quaggy. But certainly it deserves a category of its own.
