You left off the letters from the dial. (2-abc 3-def 4-ghi etc.) This used to drive me nuts when I lived overseas. I'd get phone numbers to call that were like (800)get-life and I had to call someone in the US to read me the letters on the phone because overseas phones don't have letters on them like US phones do.
Yeah, this buddy of mine who works for Apple PR was hanging out with me yesterday, and we were smokin' weed, and drinking the malt, and shootin' a little smack, and pretty soon he was spillin' the beans about Apple's new iPhone, to be released at Macworld. By the time he'd finished snorting all my PCP, he gave me the password to Apple's Secret Future Product Photo FTP Site, and i got this picture of the iPhone! It's real, if you guys think i'm lying, you'll all be proved wrong at Macworld!
robo, the one thing that is intriguing about yer mockup is that it hits that "Space: 1999" aesthetic that comes back every 8 years or so. A part of the 70's that we secretly admire...simpler days when Woody Allen movies were goofy and bean bag chairs made great tackling dummies.
An Apple-made mobile phone just for marketing reason's? I don't think so...unless other manufactureres don't get on the iSync bandwagon.

You know, that's interesting. I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it, but yes, it does kinda remind me of 'futuristic late-70's design', which happens to be something i've always liked. I guess it was an extreme reaction to the over-the-top organic shapes and colors and general kitsch of the early/mid 70's. Designs like the Porsche 928, or some of the stuff in Kubrick's 2001. There's other stuff but my brain isn't working right now
props to robo
seems irony isn't a prerequisite for AI membership though ... there's a dull swooshing sound in the air ... the noise of stuff going over people's heads ...
LOL. After reading the continued responses to this thread, i'm thinking of opening a booth at some suburban mall with a big sign "HEY! FAKE, IMITATION, NOT REAL, PLASTIC ROLEXES, ONLY $6,000 EACH!"
I'm sure plenty of people will come up, hand me $6,000 and say "Huh.. i wonder if these Rolexes are really real.. say, doesn't that kinda look like plastic to you?"

A pretty sad commentary eh? What did PT say? 'A sucker born every minute'... Well he was pretty close if this thread is any indication...
the options we've seen so far for a new Digital Device so far is;
phone
iPod 2
tablet PC
video-pod
PVR top-set-box
if we look at the phone;
is it possible? yes
will it be top-of-mobilephones ? yes
is it possibly a big seller? yes
will it hurt iPod-sales? no
would it fit with software dev.? think so
will it be cross-platform? yes
is this the right time? well, they need income & attention & more sales&people to the applestores
so what will it be like?
it will have bluetooth (+wifi?), gprs, triband, 2simcardslots, harddrive/card 1-5gig, firewire/usb, COLORSCREEN and use iSync&rendezvous to use iChat, mail, adressbook, iCal + new Apple browser&Sherlock. maybee also camera/webcam add-on.
this is why the ipod will never get a small colorscreen... because Apple tried to watch a movie on the iPod a longwhile ago and know it s*cks.. why not use all the screens that surrounds us for that stuff. the videopad will need bigger screens than 2", and more storagespace than the iPod?>more expensive
I know mobile phones. I know that Apple could easily kick Nokia, Motorola, and Sony-Ericsson's ass. (Or at least come close to kicking Sony-Ericsson's ass... )
It's a no-brainer just like the iPod digital audio player.
That picture of iPhone looked FAKE to me so that picture is FAKE.
I doubt if that is happening on 7th Jan then the sales of iPhone will NOT success becuase of the shape of the moblie. That iPhone looked cold, boring, empty while other moblies (e.g Nokia, etc) shown warm, curly, lots to do e.g lots of button, colour screen etc.
Increasing number of moblies are towards to colour screen from black and white screens.
If they DID release the iPhone then they will make the biggest mistake in the history of Apple company.

Well, i won't defend my 'design', but i do find most other mobiles (especially Nokia) to look 'busy', overdesigned, and unappealing. Clean is cool. :cool:

tell it like it is!!
BTW: funky, i know you're sarf of the river but robo has effectively admitted the forgery...
well, just wanted to state that a phone has quite a big audience more so than a MP3player + it will work with PC's for syncronising(well, palmDesktop etc.).
anyhow, as remarked in another thread, the revenue gathered from iPod sales will incite Apple to release another iDevice; what options does it leave them? look at current best-sellers to spot the answer;
mobile phone
PVR
game-console
digital camera
organizer (can tou think of others..?)
i personaly think they'll have to release something not more expensive than the ipod and that can be found in an existing cathegory of digital devices to be a best-seller.

First thing I thought when i saw this was that the trackpad/numbers were to be used like a rotary dial phone. LOL

let's take the spec's over again..
i'm wondering: what options currently available for iMedia/iPhone's harddrive/card (obviously smaller sized than iPod)
