dvd recorder

I am thinking to record direct from dv to dvd recorder and edit them later in imovie or fce.
but i am wondering what video format would be saved to the dvd and can i edit it later on.
any thoughts?

i dont really understand what youre talking about. are you looking at those sony dvd-rw camcorders?

just split your .dv file into 4.3GB sections and burn to a DVD. Then get to your destination computer and import these raw DV files.
Voila'. I've done it lots of times.

i dont really understand what youre talking about. are you looking at those sony dvd-rw camcorders?
