iChat and Belkin Routers

How can you open up the ports required to use Video and Audio chat for use with a Belkin Router. I have a model F5D6230-3, and I have to follow the guidelines from apples site:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208

But I am unsure of how to set this up.

I have tried to put my computer in the "Demilitarized Zone", but I still cannot use audio and video chat.

There are 2 things you need to do to get iChatAV working.

    1) on your Mac --> System Preferences --> Sharing --> Firewall

Add a New... entry of Other.

    For the port, enter 5060, 5100, 16384-16403

For the Description, call it iChatAV

    Save

    2) on your Router

Go to the Virtual Servers section.

You will need to port forward the following ports to your private IP address:

    UDP and TCP port 16386 - 16400

    UDP and TCP port 5060

    UDP and TCP port 5100

    Save your settings

That should do it. It's working find for me. Good Luck!

The think is though, that my router setup only lets me enter 10 port numbers, and no ranges, which makes it hard to make it accept 16 ports for both TCP and UDP, which is 32 ports in total...

    Yes, I know... shitty router

    OK: update after reading this:

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208

Open the following ports on your router:

    ==========================

Open up port 5060 for TCP only

Open up port 5190 for both UDP and TCP

iChat AV only uses 4 UDP ports in the 16384 to 16403 range.

So open up at least 4 UDP ports.

From what I read, that should give you a minimun configuration to be successful. That's only a total of 7 ports. See if that works for you.

    Good luck!
