Proxy Switch?

I use an automatic proxy server in Network Settings in order to have access to research databases through the university. However, keeping the proxy "on" all the time really slows down the internet connection. Anyone know how to make a proxy "switch" to turn the proxy on/off when I need it/don't need it? It's a bit too cumbersome to do in Safari... ideas?

    You can create a new location in the network preferences and then switch between the two using Apple Menu>Loacation.
