iBook's Future.
Everybody would tell you that the current iBook is the best VALUE purchase in the current Apple offerings. Will the iBook replace the iMac? Think, the iMac is only going to get more like the iBook if it gets skiny. Is the iMac evolving into an iBook? Is the desktop iMac getting slower because of this? Any small computer will not be as good as a stationary desktop. Is the iBook going to become the iMac? The future of schools is supposedly in wireless portables, right?
Will the ibook get an updat at MWSF?

I wouldn't expect a non-incremental update before Tokyo (see the older threads on this topic).

We are going to see a lot of convergence.
Apple knows this.
^^Exactly. The real question is whether it will be a laptop that takes the place of desktop computers, or something like a web tablet.

I don't think web tablets will catch on. Just because Bill Gates has one up his butt, doesn't mean the whole industry will follow. Though... it is sad watching those poor people with them on that CNET tv show.
If for no other reason laptops are really easy to steal, while getting away with a tower computer requires a bit more effort! Think about computer labs in schools, or computers in the work place. Zero need for portability.
Given the heavy discounts that have appeared on iBooks (some places are selling them for as little as $900 brand new) I'd be suprised not to see a revision in the near future.

I hope this near future you speak of is MWSF01!
I hope we see a 700 mhz iBook at MWSF02.

Maybe possible. They went to 600 with just a jumper change. And IBM has been making the G3 as is for a while now. The parts are probably all 700Mhz quality by now. Power consumption and heat may be issues though, untill Sahara at least. If Apple could supply me a 1Ghz iBook (not soon I think) altivec or no, I'd buy one. For a desktop, I'd wait at least untill altivec was included.
SIDE NOTE:
what font does apple use in their ads? I've tried "Times" and "Times New Roman" cause I thought that was it, but it just doesn't look right... Any help would be great! Thanks!
