CD-R & DVD-R Media

I just received my brand new dual 2.0 G5 today and it rocks. Highly recommended to anyone who is thinking about getting one.

I tried burning two 650 MB Memorex CD-Rs using the Finder and Toast but each took about 10 minutes to burn (nowhere near the set burn speed of 32x, and the disc supports 52x.) I figured I would try using a different brand of CD-R (Maxell) and sure enough, the same disc burned in just about three minutes. I also bought some TDK DVD-Rs (8x) and those worked great as well. I was able to burn a 2.1 GB DVD-R in under five minutes at 8x.

To summarize:

Good: Maxell CD-R, TDK DVD-R (8x)

Not So Good: Memorex CD-R (52x)

So my question to all you AppleInsiders is this: which brand of CD-Rs and DVD-Rs work best for you and your SuperDrive?

I would love to get some more opinions.

Brandon

I'd just say that I have had lots of success with TDK discs as well. Verbatim CD-Rs have worked well for me too.

I use Sony for DVDs. They are actually pretty cheap, and for a 2 gb project it takes no more than 5 minutes.
