Is it possible to input a VGA signal to an Apple Cinema Display? I'm thinking about getting a 20" version, but I've just noticed that my wife's Dell laptop only has VGA out, not DVI .
No, VGA is an analog signal. Cinema Displays require a digital DVI signal... You can buy a box to do the analog to digital conversion, but the quality is not going to be good and the converter is quite expensive anyway. And no, the converter is not just a simple pin converter.

Your G5 came with an adapter that converts the output from DVI to VGA on your tower, changing the input on a monitor from DVI to VGA is much more difficult.

Including the 24" one that my iBook is powering now.
Guess I'll have to look at non-Apple screens if my wife wants to use her Dell. At least they are cheaper

But I would think you'd really *badly* want to have an Apple Display to justify a $300 adapter from VGA to DVI.
