Again I'll repeat, YOU ALL NEED TO GET A LIFE. The difference between Microsoft's design and Apple's is that Microsoft's bad design doesn't come off with a thumbnail. If it saves me a few dollars, I have no problem with it. I'll just take it off as soon as I get it.
While design is important to me, it's not important enough for me to care about something this trivial.
niji, one of my Mac's has a rather large "PowerPC" logo printed on its case.
differentiation is an important (integral) part of branding such as power pc. when you have something that few others have, or no else can offer, then flaunt it.
putting an intel inside sticker on an apple casing is the reverse of branding. it is commodization, and that is the issue: dell, gateway, hp, ad naseum will all go bankroupt or be bought out by chinese or taiwanese commdodity brands.
when products in the same industry compete with the same costs and componentry, the only two ways to make money are: (1) design, and (2) branding.
Anyone remember the AIM alliance? Apple/IBM/Motorola? Now it just seems like it's an IBM chip rather than an alliance since all Apple did was invest in the plant in New York. I don't think we will see a change except the fact it will say Intel rather than PowerPC. As everyone else has said, Intel is getting enough publicity now with this as is. You have had to really live under a rock to not know what Apple and Intel are currently up to.....
Why don't people remove those stickers from their PCs? Probably the same people that enjoy advertising for their dealership of their new car.
Those dealer things are stuck on with barnacle glue, and on painted parts of the car (hmm, all parts of the car are painted these days). I'd love to take them off, but it's usually too difficult.
But I do remember those PowerPC logos on the machines. I think a lot of AI readers have an internal concept of Apple as a company that is a little at odds with reality.
The "PowerPC" logo was ok because no one else had it, things that are rare are cool, and that was the time some of apples computers still had the old moto chips in them. If apple puts intel stickers on there machines then they lose there uniqueness, they will lose some of the specialness of there design
If Apple does release Macs with stickers, I will open up an online Mac store and sell Macs with their stickers pre-removed at a hefty markup. I will make a killing off of some of you people.
Apple could do a beautiful job of using Intel Inside. Stickers no, Apple mat make their own emblems that are Intel Inside. Maybe Apple sees this as a challenge, to include the Intel Inside logo, but make it something of beauty.
Could anyone whip up a 3D emblem using chrome and blue and orange for the Apple Intel Inside logo?? I say this because Steve does not seem to be the type of person to do the obvious, to hide the fact, instead he appears to be the person that is proclaiming the loudest "We are going to use Intel Inside".
I wonder how Ive will incorporate the Intel Inside Logo?
I'm going to say this once and for all: THE ONLY PLACE YOU'LL EVER SEE AN INTEL LOGO ON AN APPLE PRODUCT IS THE BOX. STEVE JOBS WILL NOT ALLOW IT.
hahaha... that is funny. Have you heard of marketing? It may not be up to Jobs totally, but then again, as bad as Intel wanted Apple, that may have been one of the concessions to Apple that Intel makes.
Nonetheless, it does not really matter. If there is a logo on the hardware so bet it. It will not make it any less of a Mac computer.
apple is about oobe as a primary and integral part of its branding.
there is not a single apple product, from power adapter to power mac, that requires the consumer to remove an advertisement from any of its casings.
its about design being a component in apple hardware.
a paraphrase of a steve quote about microsoft "they wouldnt be half as bad if they had any taste".
to some people, not all, design is important.
if design itself is not so important to you, i am still very happy that apple products and software are able to be appreciated by you because they "just work". they are computer products after all, helping us to work. to some the design element is just as important, to others not so important.
Yeah, i just jotted down your words for further intellectual usage.

What do you mean precisely? The nature of a Mac (or Mac purchase
If the new MacIntel's feature some new Intel chip long before any WinTel PC, I may accept the sticker on the Mac. Especially if its an Apple designed sticker that can still be peeled off.

Thank you niji

What really bothers me is how people don't take those stickers off.
I know! It drives me mad, especially when the stickers are fading, peeling and gummed up.
When people are showing me something on their screen, I can barely pay attention to what's on it with those things there.

Ideas??
The logo was on the Mac packaging?
[music=PsycoTheme] Augh! [/music]
What if, Gasp!
The logo was on a poster in the Apple store window?
[music=PsycoTheme] Aughh! [/music]
What if, Gasp!
The logo was on the T-shirts of the Apple store employees?
[music=PsycoTheme] Aughhhh! [/music]
Would you still buy a Mac or an abacus and slide rule?
My guess is Apple will promote the hell out of the new Intel processors.

And they rightly should. A piece of string and some glue remover would do the trick on the sticker.
Of course, if it was laser engraved, then egad! Some people just might decide to switch to Windows because of that.

Nope, ney, nada, nein, no fucking way will a Mac have an Intel Inside sticker on it.
NEIN means NEIN by all means.
Seriously, an intel sticker in its current fashion would
break any given apple design guidelines in a split second, flat.
So i am heading to "no".

for that matter) is exactly not trivial.
