Did you have a live internet connection at the time?
It needs to connect to the industry database online to pick up the info (Gracenote, or some such service), other wise you just get track 1, 2, etc.
If for some reason it misses on a particular CD, it could be an error in the database for the barcode info of that particular CD (I've had this problem when listing CDs to sell on half.com, sometimes because the CD is and indy, or a promo cut.)
OR, if you mean it it doesn't IMPORT at all, go check your itunes settings: Advanced-> Import -> On Insert-> set to Import Songs and Eject
