    Perhaps it's to keep IBM happy while they develop the 970. I read somewhere how much potential income IBM lost when the iMac went G4. I can't remember the exact figure but it seemed a lot.

    Or because IBM has a big inventory of them sitting around and wouldn't ship the 970 until Apple cleared out the cellars. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    This was true before the update...



    Both the iBook (w/AGP 2X, ATi Radeon Mobility 16MB) and PowerBook (w/AGP 2X, ATi Radeon 7500 Mobility 32MB) took advantage of QE, and were released back in April.
