To be honest, I don't even notice the text modifier stuff in the post creation page, though I do cringe at the results when someone plays with it too much.
They both are posting from accounts that have been around for a long time.
I believe that they think that the size of their type makes up for the paucity of their posts.
i really doubt this is it. it just seems too "magical"... ipod, cell phone, remote, car keys, portable grill, holographic undies... nah.
i think the wu man has been drinking too much kool aid. all i expect is an ipod with a touch screen. and maybe an iphone, but as a separate ipod+phone device without all the crazy rabbit out of the hat capabilities.

Wake up. It's Apple's patent app that he, and we are discussing. Maybe you should say that it's Apple that's drinking the Kool Aid.
The smart phone could become the ultimate wireless computerless presentation tool at Universities, enterprise and domestic markets.
But for that it is required that Apple releases Mac OS X mobile for it.
Just make your Keynote or PowerPoint presentation on your Mac or Windows machine, move it to the smart phone and use it as a remote control to give your presentation.
i wouldnt want to see a full version of OSX on such a small device, and i dont think apple would take this route. thats the failing of the umpc: put a version of winXP on a handheld with no full keyboard or mouse, no real good way to interface with it. and battery life becomes a major issue as well, running real memory hogging computer apps on a small device. it just doesnt work and i'm sure apple has an understanding for that reality. the umpc is going nowhere.
what they need to do is put tiny apps on it that do very specific, limited things. basically widgets on an ultraportable, a kindof half-computer. OSX widgets are very specific and give you the right kind of information in a very limited and useful way. a full blown webbrowser has so far proven to be pretty lame on any device that isnt comfortable to sit down at and use a full size ergonomic keyboard. a widget can have highly focused browser functionality for retrieving certain kinds of information, the kind you'd want out on the road, and can be done with an interface as simple as a clickwheel.
anyway, i think thats the smart move here. it would become the next generation newton, fashioned from ipod design, and would let apple catch up to itself circa 1996 certainly not every newton engineer left apple, there must be a segment of the company chomping at the bit to restore their technological leadership in ultraportable computing and apply all that knowledge again. this time, they could do it successfully with the ipod brand as its backbone.
I'm not sure I really want an all-in -one unit that does all that is listed in the patent.
I prefer being able to upgrade single items when new features / designs come out.
By having a single unit, you limit your ability to have the best in each field.
For instance, when you need more capacity on your iPod, you need to replace the whole unit, phone, camera, etc.
Need a higher resolution on the camera, replace everything.
New features in the phone market, replace the whole unit, when nothing is wrong with the other bits.
It just does not work for me to have everything in once place.
It fails you lose everything as well, single point of failure.
Will it be "The jack of all trades, but master of none" - i.e. OK at everything, but not great at anything in particular. Unlike the iPod which is simply the best music player there is.
I will have to be convinced to throw away (stop using) :-
Sony H5 - 7.2 Megapixel camera
Blackberry Phone
60GB iPod
Sony PSP
Built in Sat Nav in the Honda Civic
All the top of the game in each field (well capacity on the iPod), but I suspect the Apple device would not meet the same standards if all combined into one. So not a great fit for me.

Apple may release a pretty awesome phone, but it may not be as cool as the hype.
Sorry, but the hell is up with new members using massive font sizes randomly? It's starting to look like a MS Word document in here. No taste. :P
I'll accept this filing of proof of the device when the device ships.
Heh heh. Both paragraphs are true.

large font offends me
I suppose that proves the point.

That might have been an LSD flashback.
case of apple using "iphone" as a tag just to attract more attention???
i.e. are Apple copying the term from rumours or is this some kind of proof that they do intend to start using the name?
iWonder....
