Apple releases Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta
Apple Computer on Thursday released an update to Boot Camp, its dual-booting software solution that allows Intel-based Macs to also run operating systems from rival Microsoft Corp.
"Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta contains many updates and is intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users," the company said.
The 186MB update delivers support for the latest Core 2 Duo Intel-based Macintosh computers (iMac and Mac mini).
Additionally, Apple has improved improved support for Bluetooth wireless devices.
"If you previously installed Boot Camp beta, you can easily update to Boot Camp 1.1.1 beta," Apple says. "You don't need to partition your hard drive again (unless you want to change its size) or reinstall your Macintosh and Windows software or documents, but it's very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP."
For new users, Boot Camp requires an Intel-based Mac, Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 or later, the latest Apple firmware updates, 10GB free hard disk space, a blank recordable CD and a bona fide installation disc for Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Home or Professional.

a bona fide installation disc.. as opposed to what?
As opposed to an illegal copy.

As opposed to an upgrade disc or a network-based installation source. The former is a common scenario for home users, and the latter is a common scenario for corporate users.
didn't we have all these features in Bootcamp 1.1?
Yep, those are the 1.1 release notes. The 1.1.1 ones merely state:
This release of Boot Camp Beta v1.1.1 contains support for the latest Intel-based Apple Macintosh computers and improved support for Bluetooth wireless devices.
Anybody know if it allows you to install windows on an "MS-DOS" (fat32) formatted external drive, the type that Disk Utility can create? That would be great for laptops particularly given the inability to have 2 physical internal drives.
It asks if you want to install on another drive. I don't recall if that would be another internal drive aka Mac Pro, or any other drive.
You have to remove the regular OX X boot disk first however, or it will want to partition your boot drive. Perhaps this update fixes that bug.

A Core 2 Duo Mini?
A Core 2 Duo Mini?
This is AI you're talking about!
yeah, those Core 2 Duo Mini's with their Quadro 5500 1gb video cards rock! Havent you seen them yet?
I'm waiting until I can get the ATI R600 video card in Febuary to put in.
Do you think it will work if I remove the part of the chipset that does the video? I can burn it out.
The card will only use 250 watts!

Naw, if you burn 'em, they just grow back. Acid and tweezers is the only way.
Still, there is a problem with the rear audio jack that is not detected so the internal speaker are always on. To turn them off, you need to plug something in the front audio jack. So my speakers are plugged in the back and I plugged a adapter in front jack to mute internal speaker.
Everything else work fine...
