I don't think I shut my MacBook down right to complete the 10.4.8 update.

It told me to hold down the power button (which I did). It shut off, I turned it back on, it's now stuck on the gray screen with the apple and the circle animation for a solid half hour now.

What happen?

Shut down and boot into verbose mode using command-v. That will let you see the processes that are happening and maybe where it is getting stuck.

Does it hang every time you boot up?

I called Apple and reinstalled 10.4.6 without losing my data. When I brought up 10.4.8, he said the words "prerelease", so I'm going to hold off on installing.
